bwentbot-notices Mailing List for BwentBot

OK, first off.. the weekly notices aren't gonna happen.  I'm too lazy and 
too busy to keep up with that.  :)  Aslo at this point, the progress of 
bwentbot isn't moving along that fast that I need to have weekly updates, so 
I'll just be sending mail notifications once in a while to keep all of you 
up to date about what is going on.

Now I realize that 2.5 is taking a long time to finish, mostly because I 
haven't had time to work on it.  2.4.5 was a rushed release to impliment 
_some_ remote admin commands and hopefully they have been working OK for 
everyone using them.  I have gotten back on track working on 2.5, and have a 
few people submitting code snippets that they would like included in the 
next release.  I am also offering sub projects to people who are interested. 
  The sub projects are relatively small and no real indepth knowledge of the 
code is needed, they are mainly just laying out logic for later projects.

2.5 should become availible soon, but there are no guarantees.  Me and the 
other devels are working on it when we have the chance, and slowly including 
newer features.

If you have any ideas for features, or anything that you would like fixed 
that has not been adressed, please post them on the sf tracker.

Any bugs/questions about how to use the bot please also direct to tracker.  
I'll respond to them as soon as I can.

I'm going to TRY to email the mailing list once a week or so to keep you all 
posted of whats going on with the project.  Don't know how strict I'll be 
with doing it every week, but we'll see as time goes by.

I have been busy working on the website for bwentbot on sf, so have not put 
much time into the project this week.  Going to try to get some work done on 
it this weekend, and hopefully have a upgrade availible soon.

Features to be included in next minimal release -
- Server commands for $owner (/kick, /nick. /topic, /op, etc)
- Fix some formating issues with regex in !learn admin/user/ban
- Add in aditional checks and safties into bulk of code (I have been lazy 
with this)

Features for the next full release (2.5) -
- Options to disable/enable commands via the config
- Add in patern matching to !list (link/info) similar to how !seen works.  
If there are alot of links/info, the bot can flood off the server.
- Maybe direct responses to commands to command issuer (!google would return 
"nick: stuff" not just "stuff".
- Black hole for server messages
- Direct responses back from server to $owner after server commands
