Hello ProjectLibre Community, I am writing to report a critical and fundamental bug in how ProjectLibre calculates the Work for a task when using resources with non-standard calendars. The core of the issue is that ProjectLibre incorrectly calculates the total Work based on the project's default calendar and fails to update this value after a resource with a custom calendar is assigned. This makes planning with resources on different work schedules unreliable and requires manual correction, defeating...

ProjectLibre's new release only runs on the new macOS with M silicon. It does not run with the x86 older chips. Apple has discontinued support as well. If you need to run on an older Mac then go to Files here and download version 1.9.3. If you are on the M chip like the above messages... check if you have virus protection conflict or a network issue allowing.... you still do need to to to Security / Preferences and Allow the installation as it is downloaded from Sourceforge not their app store

  • Tahoeob Tahoeob posted a comment on ticket #194

That is odd.... we litterally have many thousands of successful installations on macOS with M silicon. There are multiple messages here... wondering if you have gone to Systems Preferences and allowed it to install.... or do you have virus software/network software causing a conflict?

Many thanks! The recommended workaround with the .tar.gz instead of .deb works on debian 12 bookworm stable (and derivates). Single issue left was a java version mismatch. I had openjdk-17-jre installed, which still was not enough. Not sure how java 11 which you had stated should have worked then: $ java -jar projectlibre.jar Error: LinkageError occurred while loading main class com.projectlibre1.main.Main java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/projectlibre1/main/Main has been compiled by a...

  • Tahoeob Tahoeob posted a comment on ticket #195

I would suggest for now downloading the version 1.9.3 .deb You can find it in the Files folder here. The other workaround if you do want 1.9.8 : Download the tar.gz version of ProjectLibre instead of the .deb. Manually extract and run the executable from the terminal using java -jar. Ensure you have Java 11+ installed (openjdk-11-jre works well on Debian Bookworm).

TBD but good question... we are in touch with Apple who are heavy users internally. They had actually helped drive some of the development focus on 1.9.8. Here is a note on their focus.... Apple's stance on x86 chips for their Mac computers is clear: they are no longer the future. Apple has completed its transition to its own ARM-based "Apple Silicon" chips across its entire Mac lineup. The official ProjectLibre .dmg installer for macOS ships all of its native dependencies (including HarfBuzz) inside the app bundle. So if you install from the .dmg and you don’t already have HarfBuzz on your system, the installer will still complete successfully and you won’t need to brew install harfbuzz. The standalone DMG is fully self-contained.

  • tjl tjl posted a comment on ticket #192

Just wondering, since ProjectLibre 1.9.8 for macOS looks for the file '/opt/homebrew/opt/harfbuzz/lib/libharfbuzz.0.dylib', does that mean that ProjectLibre now requires 'harfbuzz' to be installed via homebrew?

Yes, you should either run 1.9.3 or follow the instructions below to run the .jar file. ProjectLibre's team spent a lot of time preparing Linux (.deb and .rpm) and Windows (.msi) and macOS (.dmg). Just a note the dmg is for Apple Silicon and won’t work for x86. Run 1.9.3 or follow the instructions below if you are using an older Mac. When there are compatibility problems, customers can still install Java 21, download the jar and double click on it.

I'd find it easier to work on my project plans if it would be easier to see which entry in the task list table belongs to which entry in the gantt chart. Eg It would be helpful if the focus line in the table jumps if I click an event in the gantt chanrt. Also it would make things more transparent, if the line I work on in the table gets a different background color in the gantt chart. Ralf

Without manipulating calenders: What do I have to do, to see that 2 tasks, each 5 days, all done by the same person will require 10 days? (and not making one the successor of the other one, that's the workaround I use now :) At the moment it takes 5 days, and the one person has a workload of 200%

  • Tahoeob Tahoeob posted a comment on ticket #32

Hi Ralf, Yes, you can do both... your example is a 5 day task and with the default calendar of 8 hours a day is an 40 hour task. If your Calendar is standar then it will finish in 5 days.... however, if your task calendar is working only 4 hours a day it will take 10 days to finish the 80 hours of work. You can have Project, Task or Resource calendars. You can do the same on your resource if it is assigned a calendar that only works 4 hours a day.

Neither can I assign 2 tasks to the same 100% ressource, resulting in the duration result in timeA+timeB. All I have is a histogram showing that a ressource is overallocated.
