  • With this release having a commercial element to it, it is required you comply fully with the trademark restrictions associated with the MX Linux name. On running your QSI, the first block identifies the OS with the following information "Distro: MX-23.4_x64 Libretto" This may be a breach of the fair use license, please check carefully and adjust as needed.

Thank you for your report. I still have a lot to learn...
  • I use MX Linux (XFCE version) as my daily driver and have done for several years now, so I was curious to see what this respin had to offer. Turns out not a lot as it froze on starting KDE plasma screen and needed a hard reset to get out of it. it's a fairly new PC I built myself so the extra requirements of KDE shouldn't have been an issue. It was via Ventoy which shouldn't have been a problem either as it successfully boots original MX Linux and other respins I've tried before on it. To satisfy my own curiosity I'm going to download the official KDE version and try that......... Watch this space! Ok, original KDE version works fine in UEFI boot mode and yours works in standard non UEFI mode only, but at least I got to see it! I tried again in UEFI mode - same freeze up requiring a hard reset.

iDeal OS has been proven to boot effectively (in both UEFI and legacy modes, secure boot off) and run on a dozen different hardware configurations once the USB key is prepared using balenaEtcher, Rufus or the original MX Live USB Maker applications. Ventoy has not been tested. The only hardware problem encountered so far is that HP computers with B&O speakers do not emit any sound: a note about this can be found on the website. Anyway, thanks for your comments, I will take a look at Ventoy and consider it for testing for the next release.
  • can't find the difference between MXLinux and this distribution apart from the desktop change to KDE, which consumes more resources, and changing the DNS. Could you provide more details about what else has been changed?

Hello everyone, It is clearly stated that iDeal OS Emerald Edition is a custom respin of MX Linux. Various applications that come with it have been replaced: Thunderbird with Betterbird, Midnight Commander with Double Commander. Others have been removed: ktorrent, strawberry. Many have been added: asunder, HomeBank, KeePassXC, Kid3, FreeFileSync, PDFSam, UFW. Others have been integrated with more features and resources: more fonts available in LibreOffice and system-wide, more brushes in Gimp, Adblock in Firefox. It is a custom selection of applications for everyday computing tasks, made after the experience gained in more than 20 years as a Linux user. If you consider iDeal OS Diamond Edition, the list of default installed applications is longer, essentially turning your PC into a ready-to-use DAW, empowering entrepreneurs, freelancers, programmers, web designers, content creators, artists, YouTubers, etc. iDeal OS is developed and distributed in the hope that it will be functional and useful, without expecting it to be the ultimate solution, but a humble alternative to many other nice distributions out there.
