"Great product!"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

We've been using PortalGuard for several years now, and it has worked perfectly for us. It integrates all of our single sign-on (SSO) services and consolidates links to them onto one page. It enables us to include non-SSO links, since users find the one-stop shopping experience helpful. It includes password reset options for users and enables us to provide First-Time Users with easy access to all our secure online services. PortalGuard supports MFA and enables admins to customize the options for some features. The PortalGuard application has grown significantly in the past few years, while the customer support has remained among the best we've had from any vendor. We chose PortalGuard to replace a more expensive portal solution and have never been more pleased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

These days, we expect a solution we can install on our own. Although we needed the help of the implementation engineer, after several meetings, the rapport we developed was constructive for both articulating our specific needs and for getting those needs met. And honestly, the number of services we've had to integrate for SSO has been a bigger job than we expected. But even a complex configuration was made easy-peasy with the expert help we received! I'm hopeful that future releases will empower administrators to easily update branding and style features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PortalGuard provides a reliable and secure authentication experience."
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

PortalGuard excels at providing a secure and customizable identity management system. Its support for single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and self-service password resets makes it a strong solution for managing user access across multiple platforms. It integrates well with existing infrastructure, and once set up, it reduces helpdesk workload significantly by empowering users to resolve login issues themselves. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

The initial setup can be complex, the admin interface can be a little outdated, although that might be a version issue. You might need a dedicated user to monitor and track the system. Documentation has to go through their end of troubleshooting, leading to extra time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Security and User Experience: A Review of BIO-key PortalGuard"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

Enhanced Security, Improved User Experience, Seamless Integration with existing applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

The learning curve is a a bit steep at first. The customization options for the login page are still limited. Their support system is kind of flaky. The support itself isn't just their system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PortalGuard meets our needs, providing a highly customizable, full featured iDP/SSO solution."
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

PortalGuard is a highly customizable iDP/SSO solution. We have thousands of users using it daily for SSO with MFA, and it is a very stable, secure, and reliable system. The support is very responsive, and they have services to tailor the product to your business needs if you have a unique requirement. We have used this for several features and customizations to better fit our business process. PortalGuard supports load balancing and SQL clustering on-premise and is also available as a SaaS offering. Administration is straightforward and done via a GUI interface, and they have taken the time to label every option with what it does, which is very helpful. We have found the solution to be cost-effective, and it has kept pace with technological changes over the years, bringing support for the latest biometrics, passwordless, and cloud solutions. The PG logging is excellent and allows quick resolution to issues reported by users or when implementing new options. While PG has its own MFA solution and Desktop MFA options, it also supports Duo Universal Prompt for those who prefer this option. The system also has an announcement functionality, which allows you to target groups of users. It also supports an option to require users to accept policies etc, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

If you have a highly customized template (which we appreciate is an option), it can be challenging when migrating between versions when changes include UI updates. The system is flexible and has many, many configuration options, which can impede QA testing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"IdP for both on-premise and cloud"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

The ability to have an IdP that can integrate with multiple user directories to provide a single login service for all corporate systems. Very flexible as it supports many authentication types with the ability to customize the reponse to fit the need.

Adding in integrations is a snap. Typical configuraton time is less than 5 minutes for integrating with SAML / OIDC.

The white glove service for standing up the initial service was exceptional along with their post support services.

This service is used daily by all staff members and has made password policy management a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

Updates are very manual and require some technical ability if you need to do customizations. There does not appear to be a service to notify when updates are available for the environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Starting from scratch!"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

We needed an Single Sign-On solution and were stumped at how to best implement this feature into our organization. This all started before the pandemic broke out and was a great help when we started making use of new online products and need better security. I think the best part is the support. We can alway get the help we need when we get stuck. Thanks to all the guys "under the hood!" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

Sometimes user attributes don't update exactly as they should, pretty rare, but does happen. But I know the programmer team is working on improving the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mary Roark of PortalGuard

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad the team was able to get SSO up for you and the students, staff quickly.

"the experience has been good, support good, technology good, no complaints, no hiccups."
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

The technology is good and the support is even better; I've had good support experiences from all of the people I've worked with at PortalGuard since our rollout a couple of years ago - I've had lots of time working with support getting help setting up new connections or sorting out an issue here or there and it has been a great relationship that we plan to continue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

The biggest detraction from PortalGuard hasn't been much - just waiting for new features to be released - the core product which we use is solid but some of the cool new features that would improve the overall experience just takes a bit, that said they seem to do a solid job of QA testing as once things are released they generally work like they're supposed to. "Portalguard experience"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

Very friendly and knowlegable staff. I no longer have to update PG because it is in the cloud and they take care of it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

Sometimes when we request a change (ie updated security ciphers, protocols, etc) the request has to work with all their other cloud clients before they can do an update for us. This is understandable, but can be annoying when you are trying to meet audit requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Mary Roark of PortalGuard

Thank you for your kind words regarding our staff. Thank you for sharing the feedback on compliance requirements. If you can share upcoming new compliance requirements with our support and product management lead , I hope we can prioritize those in the future for you and our other clients that have compliance and audit pressure. Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback.

"PortalGuard is a reliable product that does what it says with no hassle"
What do you like best about PortalGuard?

What I like best is that it simply works. We never have issues with the system. We have had PortalGuard in place for the past several years, and primarily use it for password self-service. Any calls we get are from users who don't remember their validation data (favorite band, etc.) and we never have a problem with the service itself. Looking over our history of tickets, they are all entirely questions about upgrading versions. When we do ask questions, we get competent help (can't say that about all my vendors), and the team at Bio-Key does a great job responding to our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PortalGuard?

Nothing. It does what I need, and for a great price compared to other products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
