I use SketchUp 7, the same version of the program Google used to create all the buildings in Google Earth and the last free version that allowed you to import AutoCAD files. The fact that it is also old enough to vote doesn't bother me. I also use Kerkythea 2008 for renderings and animations. SketchUp is easy to use, highly intuitive, extremely efficient and provides excellent results. I began doing 3D stuff back in the 80's using AutoCAD and rendering in AccuRender. This is much easier and faster.
My motto is "Cheap is good, free is better." Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
SketchUp 2025 is largely bloatware. Rather than updating the software and removing the outdated parts, Trimble has simply piggy-backed new options on top of existing ones, resulting in an unstable, slow-loading, frustrating software that is monetized out the wazoo and primarily concerned with separating users from their cash through a subscription.
