**#AI in School Security: How Technology Detects Firearms to Protect Students** The increasing concern over school shootings has prompted U.S. schools to adopt advanced AI technologies for enhanced security. This strategic move involves integrating AI systems like ZeroEyes, Iterate.ai, and Omnilert with existing security cameras to detect firearms and prevent potential threats. **Insights into AI Deployment:** - **ZeroEyes Technology**: Utilized in states such as Illinois and Utah, ZeroEyes identifies visible firearms in real time, sending alerts to a specialized operations center for verification before notifying local authorities and school officials. - **Iterate.ai**: This free AI system detects a range of weapons, sending immediate alerts to school administrators and law enforcement, ensuring swift action. - **Omnilert**: Focuses on detecting brandished weapons, aiming to identify threats before they reach school premises. **Navigating Challenges:** While these AI technologies promise enhanced security, schools face challenges like false alarms, privacy issues, and the cost of implementing such advanced systems. Despite these hurdles, the integration of AI in school security is becoming a vital tool in safeguarding educational environments. How do you view the balance between technology, safety, and privacy in schools? Share your thoughts below! #SchoolSafety #AI #TechnologyInEducation #ZeroEyes #Omnilert #IterateAI #Drgpt

Connectedness could curb #schoolshootings. Trust, training can boost #schoolsafety. A great headline from the USA Today Network written from Wisconsin following the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School. "Oftentimes, the best #schoolsecurity is less visible or even invisible, but most impactful," said Ken Trump, president of the National School Safety and Security Services. "And that's the intangibles, the climate, culture, relationships, the connectedness." Engage #students in school safety. Train #teachers, #schoolleaders, and other school staff. Know students' names. Practice active supervision. Focus on behaviors. "You're not going to pick up a change in behavior or a significant concern of change in behavior on Friday if you don't know the kids Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thrusday," Trump said. These nuggets and others, along with insightful contributions by Dr. Scott Poland, internationally recognized expert in school psychology, summed up numerous key considerations if you want to understand school safety.

We’re preparing for the gunfire, but not listening to the cries for help. America has spent billions on active shooter response training—run, hide, fight has become a national mantra. Yet, year after year, attackers show us how preventable many of these tragedies were. Nearly every major study from the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) points to the same truth: there is always leakage. These individuals told someone, posted online, or displayed escalating behavior. Even more revealing—a majority of them were also suicidal. So why are we still building our response plans around the moment bullets fly, instead of the months of warning signs beforehand? The answer isn’t more metal detectors or lockdown drills. It’s a strategic shift—from reactive security to proactive intervention. We must redirect our funding and focus toward: -Behavioral Threat Assessment programs. -School- and workplace-based mental health support. -Training staff to recognize signs of leakage and distress. -Creating centralized, multidisciplinary teams that act early. If we truly want to save lives, we need to stop reacting to violence and start preventing it. It’s time for our national priorities to reflect what the data has been screaming for years. #BehavioralThreatAssessment #MentalHealthMatters #SchoolSafety #PublicSafety #NTAC #PreventionIsProtection #ProactiveSecurity Michael G. School Violence Doesn’t Start with a Bang—It Starts with Missed Signs School safety goes beyond cameras and drills. Real prevention begins when your team is trained to recognize and address threats before they escalate. Here’s how to build a frontline defense: ✅ Train to See the Unseen – Equip staff to spot patterns, not just red flags: sudden isolation, violent writings, or escalating aggression. ✅ Threat Assessment Teams – Schools using structured threat assessments see over 90% of threats de-escalated early (FBI research). ✅ Anonymous Reporting = Game Changer – Trustworthy reporting systems increase tips from students. ✅ It’s Not Profiling—It’s Protecting – Focus on behavior, not background. Most attackers leak their plans beforehand. The Hard Truth: Lockdowns save lives, but prevention saves futures. Invest in training now to avoid the long-term cost of trauma recovery. 📌 Your Move: Audit your school’s safety protocols. If your team can’t name the top 3 warning signs, let’s connect. DM me to discuss how you can improve your threat prevention strategy. #SchoolSafety #StopTheSignals #ThreatManagement #BehavioralRiskAssessment #Prevention (Sources: U.S. Secret Service, NCSS)
