IMPROVEMENT IN NEEDLE-THREADBRS.
@Tige rigshule referat tuin this cttcrs @nient mit .marking pitt nf tige same.
TO ALL PERSONS TQ WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:
Be it known4 that I, ARTHUR HUSTON, of Bristolfin the county of Lincoln, and State of Maine, have invented a. new and useful er improved Needle-Threader, or apparatus for facilitating the threading of a sewing-needle; and I do hereby declare the same to be fully described inthe following specification, and represented in the accompanying drawings, of whichi Figures l and 2 are side elevations,
Figure 3 a transverse section, and
Figure 4 a longitudinal section of it.
In such drawings A denotes a bar or parallelopiped of metal, provided with a series of conical or tapering holes, a a a, made laterally through it, each hole having a size or diameter varying from that next to it. These holes are arranged at equal or about equal distances apart, and each one of thorn, at its smaller extremity, opens into the upper part of one of a series of grooves, b b bformed 'within o ne-side of the block A, and arranged therein as represented. These grooves are to be of'diiferent sizes or `iridths each being made so as to be capable of receiving a'needle. A spring, c, extends across these grooves, and is affixed at itsopposite ends to the block A. It serves to hold a needle in either 0 zthe grooves when placed their-ein ready for being threaded. With this little implement a'needle ofealmost any size commonly used-can be threaded with facility,
such needle being first introduced into the 'groove b, of the proper size or width for its reception. The eye of' the needle being brought into correspondence with the tapering hole leading into such groove, the thread is to be passed through such hole and into the eye.
I am aware that needle-thremiers have been made with a tapering guide or hole for directing the thread into the eye of the needle, therefore Ido not claim such.
What I claim as my invention is#- The improved needle-threader, made substantially as described, viz, with the spring c, the series of grooves b, varying in their sizes, and the series of conical or tapering holes a, varying in their sizes, arranged together, and with the block or bar A, as specified.
