Abstract

The base (2) of the skate is linked to the skater's body (15) by a vertical rod (1) and an adjustable sliding ring (14). Said base (2) is topped with a foot-rest (3), articulated lengthwise with respect to the base (2) by means of an axle (7) supported by the latter. Said foot-rest (3) comprises a sole (11) with straps (16), articulated laterally with respect to the foot-rest (3) by means of an axle (12) supported by a flange (121) fixed on top of the foot-rest (3).

Description

Normal shoe skates

The invention relates to inline or roller skates for use with ordinary shoes.

It was known to use four-wheeled or roller skates with ordinary shoes. On the older shoes, the shoe was attached to the base of the skate by means of straps and, on the more recent ones, a shoe with a rising stem, of the basketball shoe type, was previously fixed by the sole directly against the base by a screw and nut system.

For inline skates, on the other hand, it was necessary to stiffen the shoes and secure them, by construction, to the bases of the skates, while extending the upper of the shoes upwards in order to maintain the wheels in vertical position in the extension of the legs, by prohibiting any transverse stress on the ankles and by limiting the articulation of the latter longitudinally.

This results in a heavier skates and significant discomfort for the skater, who can not, therefore, develop all the skating possibilities that should normally offer inline skates and evolve with them on slopes and in narrow passages. We have therefore, in a way, applied to inline skates the fixing and implementation techniques developed in the field of alpine skiing, by forcing skaters to use inline skates like skis, with what this under- hears frustration at the level of development on the ground. There are already known certain devices intended to hold the ankles transversely, while promoting a certain bending of the legs. Such a device is described in French patent application No. 2 745 988. Special shoes, with rigid sole and reduced height rod, permanently fixed to the base of the pads, are designed to be used with a guide element longitudinal, intended to accompany the leg during flexions, so that the ankle remains held in the transverse direction. Such a device, if it grants a little flexibility to the ankles in the longitudinal direction, does not however allow any lateral inclination of the leg relative to the base of the skate, and, consequently, no misalignment of the plane of the wheels of the skates by relative to the legs, on the one hand, or, on the other hand, the inclination of the sole of the shoes relative to the ground, even when moving on sloping ground, which therefore also limits the use of this type of skates with very slight slopes and an evolution on them practically in direct trace. As for the shoe used, it is specific to this kind of shoe and is permanently fixed to the base thereof.

The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. The invention, as characterized, solves the problem of creating inline skates or rollers, with which, on the one hand, a lateral misalignment of the legs with respect to the plane materialized by the wheels or rollers is authorized, with accompaniment, if necessary, of a flexing of the legs, and, on the other hand, a certain latitude of longitudinal inclination of the sole of the shoes relative to the ground is permitted. The inline or roller skate according to the invention is mainly characterized in that the base of said skate is connected to the skater's body by an upright and a ring and in that the base is surmounted by a support foot tilting with respect to said base.

According to various embodiments, the amount connecting, via a ring, the base of the skate to the skater's body, is located on the rear of the base and in the median plane thereof, or on the one of the sides of said base.

The amount is, as the case may be, fixed relative to the base or articulated relative to the latter. In the latter case, the lower end of the upright can be extended downward, beyond its axis of articulation, and be connected to a braking device which it actuates using known means.

In the fixed embodiment, some flexibility can be given to the upright.

According to one embodiment, corresponding to the upright fixed on the side of the base, the footrest is secured to the upright, perpendicular to it, by means of an axis with respect to which it is articulated longitudinally.

According to another embodiment, corresponding to an amount located on the rear of the base, the footrest is connected to said base by means of a yoke, with respect to which the footrest is articulated by the 'through an axis, supported by said yoke, arranged transversely to the base. Depending on the case, the yoke supporting the footrest is located on the front, on the rear or in the middle of the base.

According to another embodiment, corresponding to an amount located on the side of the base, the yoke is arranged on the base so that the articulation axis that it supports and relative to which the footrest is articulated arranged longitudinally with respect to the base. In this case, the yoke is located in the middle of the base or in the vicinity of one of the sides thereof.

According to a preferred embodiment, the footrest comprises a sole articulated longitudinally or transversely, depending on whether said footrest is articulated transversely or longitudinally. The articulation axis of said sole is then disposed respectively transversely with respect to the footrest, or longitudinally with respect thereto; said articulation axis being located, in the latter case, on one of the sides of said footrest.

Preferably also, the articulated footrest is recalled by at least one spring against at least one stop fixed on the top of the base.

The articulated sole is preferably also recalled by at least one spring against at least one stop fixed on the top of the footrest.

Also preferably, the device for fixing to the amount of the ring connecting the body of the skater to said amount slides longitudinally and freely with respect thereto. According to one embodiment, corresponding to the longitudinal articulation of the footrest with respect to the base, by means of a yoke arranged in the middle thereof, and to the transverse articulation of a sole with respect to in said footrest, the upright is fixed to the articulation axis of the footrest and is articulated with respect thereto.

According to another embodiment, with a footrest which can be tilted longitudinally with respect to the base of the skate and with a sole which can be tilted transversely with respect to said footrest, the upright is located at the rear of the base and is articulated longitudinally with respect to it. this.

The advantages obtained, thanks to this invention, consist mainly in that, taking into account the latitude of lateral inclination which is left to the legs relative to the pads and to the latitude of longitudinal inclination relative to the ground which is left to feet, the skates can be used to move on very sloping surfaces, even with little clearance, while keeping ordinary shoes at the feet, since these do not have to take any stress and the ankles can fulfill their natural role and thus maintain their flexibility without any risk; the same remark can be made for the knees, since the legs can also flex to accompany the movement of the feet relative to the base of the skates.

The figures represent ordinary shoe skates, comprising a base 2, supported by wheels 13, provided with an upright 1, with a sliding ring 14, for fixing to the leg 15, fixing to the foot by straps 16; the said base 2 supporting a footrest 3 articulated around an axis 6 or 7 and being biased against at least one stop 5 by at least one spring 4 and supporting a sole 11, articulated around an axis 12 and being recalled by springs 4 against stops 5 supported by the footrest 3.

Now examining Figures 1a to 2b in more detail, we notice, first of all, that the upright 1, whether it is fixed on the side, according to Figures 1a and 1b, or on the rear, according to the Figures 2a and 2b, allows, thanks to the sliding ring 14 with which it is equipped, to perfectly maintain the leg 15 in the longitudinal median plane of the base 2, that is to say substantially in the plane of the wheels 13, whatever either the kind of shoe used, since it no longer plays any role in maintaining the leg 15 in the plane of the wheels 13. The alignment of the foot relative to the footrest 3 and / or to the base 2 and the holding the sole of the shoe against said footrest 3 being provided by straps 16, which, if properly adjusted, are sufficient to temporarily secure the foot to the skate, given the existence of the amount 1 provided with the ring 14, whose perimeter is adjustable according to the morphology of the skater. Referring to FIGS. 3a to 4b, it is noted that, in these embodiments with a lateral upright 1 (FIGS. 3a and 3b) or rear (FIGS. 4a and 4b), compared to the embodiments 1a to 2b described above, the base 2 is surmounted by a footrest 3, to which the straps 16 are connected, which is articulated longitudinally from the rear towards the front relative to an axis 6 carried by a yoke 61 fixed on the rear of the base 2, with permanent reminder of the footrest 3 by spring 4 against a stop 5 fixed on the front of the base 2.

Thus, in this embodiment, a certain inclination, from front to rear, of the sole of the shoe relative to the base 2 of the skate is authorized, within the limit permitted by the return device 4 and the amount 1, which can, for this, be endowed with a certain flexibility, or even be articulated with respect to the base 2, as will appear on other embodiments described below.

By examining FIGS. 5a to 6b, it is noted that the pads in question, and which constitute variants of the embodiments shown in FIGS. 3a to 4b, are distinguished from these by the mounting of the wheels 13 relative to to the base 2. FIG. 5b shows, in particular, a shoe with three wheels 13 nested longitudinally, offset vertically so that the tread of the wheels is tangent to a common arc of circle, the central wheel being shifted downwards accordingly compared to the other two remained at the same level. Such an arrangement always allows the ground to be retained and facilitates changes of direction. Referring to Figures 7a to 7c, it is noted that, in the corresponding embodiments, the base 2 is provided with a rigid lateral upright 1, on the internal side of which is fixed an axis 7 serving as an articulation for a rest - foot 3, which can thus be freely articulated under the action of the foot, on the front or on the rear. Figures 7b and 7c show, in particular, a two-wheeled shoe 13, of radius ri and r2, normally spaced, between which it is possible to nest a retractable wheel of larger radius r3.

Examination of FIGS. 8a to 8d shows that, according to certain embodiments inspired by the variants corresponding to FIGS. 7a to 7c described above, the footrest 3 is articulated relative to the base 2 by means of an axis 7 fixed perpendicularly to the internal face of a bracket 71, as shown more precisely in FIG. 8d.

On the variant embodiments represented by the figures

8th at 8h, the footrest 3 is surmounted by a sole 11, articulated laterally with respect to said footrest 3 by means of a pin 12 supported by a yoke 121 fixed on one of the sides and on the above the footrest 3, itself articulated longitudinally by means of a transverse axis connecting a fixed lateral upright 1 to a bracket located on the opposite side (Figures 8e and 8f), or two brackets, forming a yoke, fixed on the opposite sides of the base 2, when the upright 1 is located on the rear.

The detailed examination of Figures 9a to 10b highlights the two ways to use the amount 1, when it is articulated with respect to the base 2 by means of an axis 9 or 9bis, to actuate, at will, a braking device 8.

The pads represented in FIGS. 11a to 12 differ from those of FIGS. 3a to 4b only by the use of an upright 1 articulated relative to one of the sides of the base 2 (FIGS. 11a and 11b), or to the rear of the base 2 (Figure 12), and by the position of the yoke 61 supporting the hinge pin 6 of the footrest 3 which, in these embodiments, is fixed towards the front of the base 2, in order to rather favor a return to the back of the foot of the footrest 3 against the stops 5 under the action of the springs 4.

The pads shown in Figures 13a to 14b differ from those of Figures 11a to 12, previously described, in that the footrest 3 is articulated laterally via an axis 6 supported by a yoke 61 fixed on the side of the base 2, with return by springs 4 against stops 5 located on the opposite side; this regardless of the position of the upright 1, which in this case is articulated.

By now examining Figures 15a to 15d in more detail, it is noted that, in this preferred embodiment, inspired by the models shown in Figures 8e to 8h, the footrest 3 can be articulated longitudinally by means of a axis 7 supported by two brackets, forming a yoke, fixed on each side and towards the middle of the base 2, in order to be able to tilt the said footrest 3 either on the front or on the rear, and the sole 11 is articulated laterally with respect to an axis 12, with permanent return by spring 4 against a stop 5; amount 1 being, depending on case, located on the rear of the base 2 and articulated relative to the latter by means of an axis 9bis, or located on the side of said base and articulated relative to the articulation axis 7 of the support foot.

Thus, it emerges from the description which has just been made of the various embodiments of the invention that the upright 1, in all its forms, secures the base of the skate with any part of the body situated above the ankle, which frees it from any constraint and allows, consequently, the use of any type of shoes and allows front and rear flexions of fairly large amplitude, which, in the case of use with wheels provided with 'a non-return device, authorizes the step of the walker and the runner, that is to say in a straight line, hence a gain in speed, with the possibility of climbing steep slopes; the great possibility of flexing the ankles makes it possible to imagine all types of pivoting of the footrest from front to rear; the lateral flexing also allows many braking possibilities, which increases safety despite the increased speed and allows you to descend steep and narrow slopes and pass through the crowd safely. The pins are protected, it is possible to increase the diameter of the wheels and possibly provide them with tires, in order to obtain better braking and to be able to drive in stony terrain, especially as it is easy to ascend in a straight line and brake downhill. The pads with articulated uprights are intended particularly for in-line wheels, while the fixed uprights allow the use of very close wheels in the front-rear direction. With the in-line two-wheeled skate, there is practically a point of contact with the ground, which facilitates changes of direction. The variants, corresponding to FIGS. 5b and 8c, allow scanning from the front to the rear of the leg, with all of its advantages. The wheels can be arranged obliquely, hence an in-line ground support point and a very short line.

The embodiments which combine the articulated upright and the laterally tilting footrest allow great ease in bending the ankle from front to rear and make braking possible in all support positions. The risk of sprain is very reduced, since the lateral inclination of the footrest can be small, but sufficient for certain cases of braking, which can, moreover, be actuated by any part of the footrest. movable leg, or by the articulated upright, which allows a wide variety of possibilities. Indeed, these different embodiments, which allow, let us emphasize, either anterior and / or lateral flexion of the ankle, are very useful, because either the footrest and / or the sole can actuate all types of wheel braking: drum or disc or friction brakes on the sides or on the rolling parts of the wheel or by friction on the ground.

In addition, the use of the ankle joint restores three-point leg flexion, which facilitates reception during jumps.

Any combinations between the different variants are obviously possible.

1. Inline or roller skate, characterized in that the base (2) of said skate is connected to the body (15) of the skater by an upright (1) and a ring (14) and in that said base (2) is surmounted by an articulated footrest (3).
