  • an apparatus for wrapping palletized loads with retractable, prestretched, plastic film comprising: a unit for supplying the plastic film; a carriage which is movable on wheels, has guiding and steering means which are designed for manual gripping and for rotation thereof about the load, is provided with an upright structure on which the film supply unit is displaceably mounted and is provided with actuating means for moving the supply unit along the upright structure, said actuating means comprising a pulley on which there is wound a flexible cable element having its ends connected respectively to the supply unit and to a counterweight mounted slidably on the upright structure, the apparatus being characterized in that said actuating means comprise at least one gearmotor and operating means which are associated therewith and are located on the said guiding and steering means and can be activated and deactivated during guiding and steering of the carriage without release of the manual grip on the guiding and steering means .

  • the supply unit 3, which consists of a motorised unit with a structure and operating principle which are completely known, is designed to supply the film 2 externally after subjecting it to a mechanical pulling action able to produce a deforming prestretching effect which is reversible, at least partially, after a certain period of time.
  • the elastic contraction of the film 2 which occurs spontaneously after deposition of the film onto the loads, subsequently allows in a known manner the constrictive tightening of the film 2 which ensures that the set of loads to be packaged as a stable monolithic whole.
  • Unwinding of the film 2 is controlled by means of a device 23 shown in Figures 4 to 7 in two alternative embodiments .
  • the film 2 is unwound onto several rollers 24 which include a movable roller 24a free to be displaced in a predefined direction A.
  • a stem 26 is fastened perpendicular to the axis of the movable roller 24a in the same direction A in which it is able to be displaced, said stem having a magnet 27 at its end opposite to the roller 24a.
  • a Hall sensor 28 which is integrated directly into an electronic board 29 which controls the operation of the motor of the supply unit 3, faces the magnet 27, being fixed to a wall of the box containing the supply unit 3, while a spring 35 acts as a spacer between the Hall sensor 28 and the magnet 27 itself.
  • the movement closer of the movable roller 24a causes compression of the spring 35 and also a variation in the electrical signal depending on the distance between the magnet 27 and the Hall sensor 28, which variation in turn depends on the speed of the operator who is guiding the machine around the support bench.
  • This allows the speed of the motor unwinding the film 2 to be adapted instantaneously to the linear speed of the operator, avoiding both an excessive tension of the film 2 and excessive supplying thereof.
  • the dimensions of the spring 35 must be determined taking into account that it is necessary to avoid both a residual reactive force, which would influence the response of the motor to the advancing movement of the operator, and too small a residual reactive force, which would cause insufficient compaction of the load.
  • the carriage has a horizontal flat base 16 from which there extends a vertical upright structure 6 intended to support the supply unit 3 displaceably along the vertical.
  • the carriage 4 has guiding and steering means consisting of a handlebar 10 which is rigidly fixed to the base 16 and provided with associated end handles 19 which can be gripped by the user.
  • the base 16 of the carriage 4 is formed by a metal plate with an opening 22, the contour of which is shaped so as to receive and circumscribe the supply unit 3 when it is in the fully lowered condition on the upright structure 6 ( Figure 2) . It is necessary to emphasize the fact that this shape of the base 16 ensures intrinsic protection of the supply unit 3 which is inserted inside the contour of the base independently of its position heightwise. Moreover, the curved shape of this contour in all cases prevents any possibility of interference with the contour of - li the pallet in the event of relative knocking or rubbing.
  • the upright structure 6 is realised by three tubular elements 18 which are preferably quadrangular and are rigidly connected to the flat base 16.
  • the supply unit 3 is mounted displaceably on one of the tubular elements 18; a counterweight 9 is mounted displaceably on another element; finally, the supply unit 3 and the counterweight 9 are connected together by a cable element 8 arranged in between.
  • the latter consists in particular ( Figure 3) of a section of chain which is wound around an end pulley 7 of the upright structure 6 and fixed, at its opposite ends, on the one hand to the supply unit 3 and on the other hand to the counterweight 9.
  • a gearmotor 11 mounted on the pulley 7 and operated by corresponding control means 12 associated with the handles 19 of the handlebar 10 and consisting of a pushbutton actuator which can be reached without the user having to release the manual grip on the guiding and steering means 10 allows the user to move the supply unit 3 and the associated counterweight 9 along the upright structure 6, while the user draws the carriage around the load and while the supply unit 3 supplies externally the plastic film 2.
  • the apparatus 1 is also provided with detection means 15 for signalling reaching of the end-of-travel condition of the supply unit 3 and the counterweight along the upright structure 6 and consequent stoppage of the gearmotor 11.

  • These means include a clutch 15 which automatically disengages the gearmotor 11 from the pulley 7 in the event of an obstruction to displacement along the upright structure 6 being encountered by the supply unit 3 or the counterweight 9 or either one of these elements: this obstruction may consist in the supply unit 3 or the counterweight 4 coming into contact with the base 16 of the carriage 4 or, more likely, with the top 25 of the Upright structure 6. It must be pointed out that the location, at the top, of the end- of-travel stops for the supply unit on the one hand or the counterweight on the other hand is certainly preferable in view of the fact that the cable connecting element 8 is constantly tensioned.
  • the gearmotor 11 which drives the pulley 7 and the motor with which the supply unit 3 is equipped are supplied with power by means of one or more batteries 17 which are located on the base of the carriage 4 and connected by means of electric cables 20 which run internally along the tubular elements 18 of the upright structure 6.
  • the apparatus 1 allows wrapping to be performed in a simple and easy manner and has advantageously a simple, compact, small-size and low-weight structure which allow manoeuvring in small spaces, without moreover prejudicing in any way the stability of the apparatus which is also ensured by the permanent gripping of the handlebar 10, with two hands, by the user.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil servant à emballer des chargements palettisés au moyen d'un film plastique rétractable préétiré (2), comprenant une unité (3) de distribution de film (2) et un chariot (4) à roues (5). Le chariot (4) comprend une structure montante (6) sur laquelle l'unité (3) de distribution peut être déplacée suite à l'activation d'organes de commande comprenant une poulie (7) déplacée par un motoréducteur (11) auquel est associé un élément (8) de câble flexible, situé entre les deux et connecté à l'unité (3) de distribution et à un contrepoids (9) coulissant sur la structure montante (6). Le chariot (4) comprend des organes (10) de guidage et d'orientation destinés à saisir et à transporter manuellement ledit chariot autour du chargement lorsqu'est distribué le film (2). Des organes (12) d'exploitation du motoréducteur (11), situés sur les organes (10) de guidage et d'orientation, peuvent être activés et désactivés sans que l'utilisateur relâche sa prise.
