Abstract

　本発明は、画像内に存在する特定の画像領域を効率よく検出する画像検出装置および画像検出方法を提供する。本発明の画像検出装置は、まず元画像に対して倍率（拡大縮小率）の初期値に基づいて、元画像のサイズを変更して、特定画像（例えばナンバープレート）の検出を行う。次いで、倍率を変更して、元画像のサイズを変更と特定画像の検出とを繰り返し実行する。更に、本発明の一実施形態は、拡大縮小画像を用いながら検出を繰り返すことで高速化すると共に、他の特定画像が存在し得ない領域を決定し、その情報をもとに効率よく検出を行うことで、高速化を実現する。
