Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a clip for attaching a pillar trim.
  • a vehicle such as an automobile has a roof member (for example, a roof panel) disposed above a side wall (for example, a door, a body side panel, etc.) of the vehicle main body and a pillar that supports the roof member. Since most of the pillars are made of metal (for example, steel plate material), the pillars are covered with pillar trims that form the inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle.
  • the pillar trim is configured by combining an appropriate synthetic resin material, fiber material, and the like in the same manner as other trim materials.
  • the pillar trim covers the pillar and has a design function of making the vehicle interior wall a smooth surface shape and a function of protecting the occupant when the vehicle collides. For example, a front pillar is disposed at the front of the vehicle.
  • the front pillar is covered with a front pillar trim configured as an inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle.
  • An airbag device generally called a curtain airbag is provided in a vehicle for protecting a passenger in the event of a vehicle collision.
  • the airbag device includes an airbag, and the airbag is folded and stored in the front pillar and the roof side rail.

  • the airbag stored in the front pillar is folded and stored inside the front pillar trim. The airbag pushes the rear end portion of the front pillar trim due to the inflation pressure of the airbag at the time of a vehicle collision, and develops along the side surface of the passenger compartment from a gap generated between the front pillar and the front pillar trim.
  • JP 2010-168044 A discloses a clip for attaching a pillar trim.
  • the clip includes an attachment body that attaches the pillar trim to the pillar, and a restriction body that regulates an amount by which the pillar trim is lifted from the pillar when the airbag is inflated.

  • the pillar trim mounting clip is linear or bow-shaped. Therefore, when the airbag is deployed and the pillar trim is detached from the pillar, the pillar trim is lifted from the pillar at a stretch by the inflation pressure. As a result, the pillar trim instantaneously reaches the locking portion formed at the tip of the clip regulating body. For this reason, the impact associated with the inflation of the airbag concentrates on the locking part, and the locking part tends to break. Therefore, there is a concern that the clip is damaged and the pillar trim is dropped from the pillar. Or there is a concern that the pillar trim breaks and scatters.

The restricting body (120) has a movement-guiding section (122) and a movement-locking section (130). The movement-guiding section (122) extends from the portion of the attachment body (110) that is fitted to an attachment opening part (38) of the pillar trim (30), and has a predetermined length that allows the pillar trim (30) to move so as to form a space between the pillar trim (30) and the pillar (10), said space being required for the airbag (60) to deploy. The movement-locking section (130) is provided at the tip of the movement-guiding section (122) and locked to the pillar trim (30) in order to restrict the movement of the pillar trim (30). An impact-mitigation mechanism (124) is provided in the movement-guiding section (122), said impact-mitigation mechanism mitigating an impact caused by the movement of the pillar trim (30) by impeding the movement of the attachment opening part (38) when the attachment opening part (38) of the pillar trim (30) moves along the movement-guiding section (122).

Description

Pillar trim mounting clip
The present invention relates to a clip for attaching a pillar trim.
A vehicle such as an automobile has a roof member (for example, a roof panel) disposed above a side wall (for example, a door, a body side panel, etc.) of the vehicle main body and a pillar that supports the roof member. Since most of the pillars are made of metal (for example, steel plate material), the pillars are covered with pillar trims that form the inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle. The pillar trim is configured by combining an appropriate synthetic resin material, fiber material, and the like in the same manner as other trim materials. The pillar trim covers the pillar and has a design function of making the vehicle interior wall a smooth surface shape and a function of protecting the occupant when the vehicle collides. For example, a front pillar is disposed at the front of the vehicle. The front pillar is covered with a front pillar trim configured as an inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle.
An airbag device generally called a curtain airbag is provided in a vehicle for protecting a passenger in the event of a vehicle collision. The airbag device includes an airbag, and the airbag is folded and stored in the front pillar and the roof side rail. The igniter (ignition device) is activated based on the output from the collision detection sensor attached to the vehicle, and the gas generated by the inflator (gas generator) is introduced into the airbag. The airbag is inflated and deployed in a curtain shape along the side of the passenger compartment, and can protect the occupant during a collision. The airbag stored in the front pillar is folded and stored inside the front pillar trim. The airbag pushes the rear end portion of the front pillar trim due to the inflation pressure of the airbag at the time of a vehicle collision, and develops along the side surface of the passenger compartment from a gap generated between the front pillar and the front pillar trim.
JP 2010-168044 A discloses a clip for attaching a pillar trim. The clip includes an attachment body that attaches the pillar trim to the pillar, and a restriction body that regulates an amount by which the pillar trim is lifted from the pillar when the airbag is inflated. The restricting body has a length that allows an amount of the pillar trim to be lifted. The front end of the restricting body is provided with a locking portion that restricts the pillar trim from moving more than necessary for deployment of the airbag.
The pillar trim mounting clip is linear or bow-shaped.
¡In order to prevent the clip from being damaged, a non-woven fabric or the like that absorbs the impact is wound around the clip locking portion. In order to prevent the pillar trim from cracking, a skin is stuck on the surface of the pillar trim, or a tape is stuck on the back surface of the pillar trim. However, providing a non-woven fabric, skin and tape increases the material cost. When a non-woven fabric is wound manually, the winding method varies, which may cause a difference in shock absorption. The clip has a straight long shape, and is pushed into the pillar trim so that a part of the clip is bent. However, the gap between the pillar and the pillar trim is narrow, the clip is difficult to bend, and the clip is difficult to attach.
Therefore, there has been a need for a structure in which the pillar trim mounting clip and the pillar trim are less likely to be damaged by the impact of the inflation of the airbag.
According to one feature of the present invention, the pillar trim mounting clip has a mounting body and a regulating body. The attachment body attaches a pillar trim that covers the pillar from the inside of the vehicle to the pillar that supports the roof member of the vehicle body. The regulating body regulates an amount by which the pillar trim moves away from the pillar when the airbag stored between the pillar and the pillar trim is inflated. The restricting body has a movement guide part and a movement locking part. The movement guide portion extends from the portion fitted in the mounting opening of the pillar trim of the mounting body and allows the pillar trim to move so as to form a gap between the pillar trim and the pillar necessary for the airbag to deploy. It has a predetermined length. The movement locking part is provided at the tip of the movement guide part and is locked to the pillar trim to restrict the movement of the pillar trim. The movement guide part is provided with an impact mitigation mechanism that obstructs the movement of the attachment opening and reduces the impact caused by the movement of the pillar trim when the attachment opening of the pillar trim moves along the movement guide part.
Therefore, the restricting body is formed integrally with the mounting body. Therefore, the clip has two functions without increasing the number of parts. In one function, the clip attaches the front pillar trim to the front pillar. In another function, the clip restricts the movement of the front pillar trim when the airbag is inflated.
The movement guide part has an impact mitigation mechanism. Therefore, the pillar trim moves away from the pillar when the airbag is inflated. It moves along the movement guide part until the mounting opening of the pillar trim reaches the movement locking part. Movement of the mounting opening is hindered by an impact mitigation mechanism. Therefore, the impact generated when the airbag is inflated and the pillar trim moves is alleviated. Thereby, damage to the clip and the pillar due to the impact can be prevented.

The outer panel 12 constitutes the outer wall of the vehicle. The inner panel 14 is located on the inner side of the vehicle and partitions the passenger compartment. The metal reinforcement 16 is provided between the outer panel 12 and the inner panel 14 and reinforces the outer panel 12 and the inner panel 14. Flange portions 12f and 14f are formed at both ends of the outer panel 12 and the inner panel 14, and the flange portions 12f and 14f are spot-welded. Thereby, the outer panel 12 and the inner panel 14 comprise a closed cross section.
The end of the windshield 18 is installed on the flanges 12f and 14f at one end of the front pillar 10. As shown in FIGS. 1, 2, and 4, the front pillar trim 30 can be formed into a plate shape and a long shape with an appropriate synthetic resin material. The front pillar trim 30 has an outer surface that makes the vehicle interior wall a smooth surface shape, and fulfills a design function. A skin may be affixed to the outer surface of the front pillar trim 30 for decorativeness. When the vehicle collides, the occupant collides with the front pillar 10 due to inertia and a so-called secondary collision occurs. At this time, the front pillar trim 30 can fulfill the function of protecting the occupant by absorbing the impact of the secondary collision (protector function).
The front pillar trim 30 is long and covers the inner panel 14 as a whole. On the upper and lower ends of the front pillar trim 30, connection pieces (not shown) extending inward and outward are formed. The connecting piece is inserted and engaged with the back side of the ceiling trim (including the roof rail trim) and the side of the instrument panel. The surface of the front pillar trim 30 is located on the same plane as the surface of the ceiling trim and the instrument panel.
A clip mounting base 32 for mounting the clip 100 is formed on the inner surface of the front pillar trim 30 facing the inner panel 14. The attachment opening 38 has a slit shape in which the edge of the attachment base 36 is cut out. The attachment opening 38 has an opening width 38 d into which the pillar trim locking portion 117 of the attachment body 110 of the clip 100 is fitted. The attachment opening 38 has a configuration in which the regulating body 120 of the clip 100 is inserted and the pillar trim locking portion 117 is fitted.
As shown in FIG. 2, the airbag device for protecting the occupant has an airbag 60. The airbag 60 is folded and stored between the inner panel 14 and the front pillar trim 30, and is installed in the vertical direction along the inner panel 14. The airbag 60 is arrange | positioned along the roof side rail from the front pillar 10 as shown in FIG. The roof side rail is located at an edge of the ceiling trim in the vehicle width direction and is covered with the ceiling trim. An inflator (not shown) is disposed at the lower part of the front pillar 10 or the rear part of the roof side rail. An igniter (not shown) is operated based on an output from a collision detection sensor attached to the vehicle, and an inflator (gas generator) generates gas. The airbag 60 is inflated by the introduced gas and is deployed in a curtain shape along the side surface of the passenger compartment. Thereby, the airbag 60 can protect a passenger | crew when a vehicle collides.
2, the clip 100 attaches the front pillar trim 30 to the front pillar 10 as shown in FIG. 2, and regulates the lifting amount S (see FIG. 6) of the front pillar trim 30 when the airbag 60 is inflated. As shown in FIG. 3, the clip 100 is formed into a shaft shape with an appropriate synthetic resin material. The clip 100 includes an attachment body 110 and a regulation body 120.
The mounting body 110 is fitted into the clip mounting hole 14h of the front pillar 10 and the mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 as shown in FIG. The elastic engagement piece 113 can be elastically deformed radially inward, and the fitting shaft portion 112 can enter the clip attachment hole 14h all the way. The elastic engagement piece 113 is elastically restored after passing through the clip attachment hole 14h and engages with the outer peripheral edge of the clip attachment hole 14h.
As shown in FIG. 3, the pillar locking portion 114 is disposed between the elastic engagement piece 113 and the first mounting seat 115. The pillar locking portion 114 has substantially the same cross-sectional shape as the clip mounting hole 14h. The pillar locking portion 114 is sandwiched between the elastic engagement piece 113 and the first mounting seat 115, and the clip 100 is locked in the clip mounting hole 14h shown in FIG. The first mounting seat 115 has a dish shape larger than the cross section of the clip mounting hole 14h. The first mounting seat 115 abuts around the clip mounting hole 14 h of the front pillar 14, and the clip 100 is stably mounted on the front pillar 14.
As shown in FIG. 3, the second mounting seat 116 is adjacent to the first mounting seat 115. The second mounting seat 116 has a flat plate shape larger than the mounting opening 38. The clip 100 is stably attached to the front pillar trim 30 by the second attachment seat 116 abutting around the attachment base portion 36 of the front pillar trim 30.
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the pillar trim locking portion 117 is disposed between the second mounting seat 116 and the expansion shaft portion 118. The width 117 d of the pillar trim locking portion 117 is substantially the same as the opening width 38 d of the attachment opening 38. The expansion shaft portion 118 is adjacent to the pillar trim locking portion 117. The width of the expanding shaft portion 118 is larger than the width 117 d of the pillar trim locking portion 117 and the opening width 38 d of the attachment opening 38. The pillar trim locking portion 117 is inserted into the mounting opening 38, and the second mounting seat 116 and the expanded shaft portion 118 sandwich the mounting base 36.
3, the regulating body 120 regulates the amount S (see FIG. 6) that the front pillar trim 30 separates from the front pillar 10 and floats when the airbag 60 is deployed. The restricting body 120 extends from the expanding shaft portion 118 in the direction opposite to the fitting shaft portion 112. As shown in FIG. 2, the regulating body 120 extends from the mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 to which the mounting body 110 is fitted.
The regulating body 120 has a movement guide part 122 and a movement locking part 130 as shown in FIG. The movement guide part 122 has a linear shape in a side view and has a plurality of wave-like parts 124 (impact mitigation mechanisms) curved in a free state at least on a plane.
The amplitude width 124d of the waved portion 124 is larger than the opening width 38d of the mounting opening 38. Therefore, when the attachment opening 38 moves through the movement guide part 122, the wavy part 124 becomes an obstacle. As a result, the lifting impact of the front pillar trim 30 caused by the inflation of the airbag 60 is alleviated. The waved portion 124 expands and contracts by elastic deformation, and alleviates the impact of the front pillar trim 30 rising.
The movement guide portion 122 has a length necessary for the amount S (see FIG. 6) that the front pillar trim 30 is lifted off from the front pillar 10 when the airbag 60 is inflated. The movement guide part 122 allows the front pillar trim 30 to be lifted from the front pillar 10 which is necessary for the deployment of the airbag 60 by the wave-like part 124 extending.
3 and 4, the movement locking part 130 is provided at the tip of the movement guide part 122. The movement locking part 130 is larger than the opening width 38 d of the attachment opening 38. Therefore, the movement locking part 130 restricts the movement of the attachment opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30.
As shown in FIG. 2, the clip 100 is always fitted into the clip mounting hole 14 h of the front pillar 14 and the mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30. Thus, the front pillar trim 30 is attached to the front pillar 10, and the airbag 60 is stored between the front pillar trim 30 and the front pillar 10.
When the collision detection sensor outputs a signal, the igniter is activated, the inflator generates gas, and the airbag 60 starts to expand by the gas. As shown in FIG. 5, the pillar trim locking portion 117 is disengaged from the mounting opening 38 due to the expansion of the airbag 60, and the front pillar trim 30 is detached from the front pillar 10 and floats up in the vehicle interior.
6, when the airbag 60 is further inflated, the mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 moves along the movement guide portion 122 of the clip 100. Since the attachment opening 38 moves while interfering with the wavy portion 124 of the movement guide portion 122, the movement is blocked by the wavy portion 124. Therefore, the impact due to the front pillar trim 30 being lifted is reduced. The wave-like part 124 relieves an impact by elastically deforming and expanding and contracting. The attachment opening 38 moves along the movement guide portion 122 and is locked to the movement locking portion 130. As a result, the front pillar trim 30 forms a lift amount S necessary for the airbag 60 to be deployed, and is restricted from moving toward the interior of the vehicle more than a predetermined amount.
As described above, the regulating body 120 of the clip 100 regulates the amount S that the front pillar trim 30 moves away from the front pillar 10 when the airbag 60 is inflated. The regulating body 120 includes a linear movement guide part 122 and a movement locking part 130. The movement guide portion 122 has a length that allows the front pillar trim 30 to move away from the front pillar 10 to a position necessary for the airbag 60 to be deployed. At the distal end of the movement guide portion 122, a movement locking portion 130 that is locked with the front pillar trim 30 and suppresses the amount that the front pillar trim 30 is separated from the front pillar 10 is provided.
The regulating body 120 is formed integrally with the attachment body 110 of the clip 100. Therefore, the clip 100 has two functions without increasing the number of parts. In one function, the clip 100 attaches the front pillar trim 30 to the front pillar 10. In another function, the clip 100 regulates the lift amount S of the front pillar trim 30 when the airbag 60 is inflated.
The movement guide part 122 of the regulating body 120 includes a wave-like part 124 (impact mitigation mechanism). Therefore, the front pillar trim 30 moves away from the front pillar 10 when the airbag 60 is inflated. The mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 moves along the movement guide part 122 until it reaches the movement locking part 130. Movement of the mounting opening 38 is obstructed by the undulating portion 124. Therefore, the impact generated when the airbag 60 is inflated and the front pillar trim 30 moves is alleviated. Thereby, damage to the clip 100 and the front pillar 10 due to the impact can be prevented.
The mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 moves linearly when the airbag 60 is inflated. On the other hand, the wavy part 124 of the movement guide part 122 is curved at least on a plane in a free state. When the attachment opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 moves along the movement guide part 122, the waved part 124 obstructs the movement of the attachment opening 38.
The movement guide part 122 has a length that allows movement of the front pillar trim 30 from the front pillar 10 so as to form a gap necessary when the airbag 60 is deployed. On the other hand, the movement guide part 122 has a waved part 124. Therefore, the movement guide part 122 can reduce the overall length of the clip while having a sufficient length. Therefore, when the clip 100 is pushed into the front pillar trim 30 and attached, the amount of bending of the movement guide portion 122 is reduced. Thus, the clip 100 can be easily attached to the front pillar trim 30.
The movement guide part 122 expands and contracts due to elastic deformation. Therefore, the impact generated when the airbag 60 is inflated and the front pillar trim 30 moves from the front pillar 10 can be further alleviated.
Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to the above structure, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that many substitutions, improvements, and changes can be made without departing from the object of the present invention. Accordingly, aspects of the invention may include all alterations, modifications, and changes that do not depart from the spirit and scope of the appended claims. For example, the form of the present invention is not limited to the special structure, and can be modified as follows.
The clip may have the structure shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 instead of the structure shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 that are the same as those in FIGS. 2 to 6 are assigned the same reference numerals as in FIGS. The pillar trim mounting clip 200 shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 has a plurality of wavy portions 124 and a plurality of bridge portions 226 that connect the adjacent wavy portions 124. The bridge portion 226 has a fragile portion 228 that is broken by the inflation pressure of the airbag 60. The fragile portion 228 is formed by reducing the thickness at a part of the bridge portion 226.
Therefore, when the airbag 60 is inflated, the bridge portion 226 is broken at the fragile portion 228 before the wave-like portion 124 is elastically deformed. Thereby, the impact generated when the airbag 60 is inflated is alleviated. Next, it moves along the movement guide part 122 until the attachment opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 reaches the movement locking part 130. Therefore, the impact generated when the airbag 60 is inflated can be gradually reduced by the bridge portion 226 and the waved portion 124. Thereby, damage to the pillar trim mounting clip 200 and the front pillar trim 30 can be further prevented.
The clip may have the structure shown in FIGS. 10 to 12 instead of the structure shown in FIGS. 10 to 12 that are the same as those in FIGS. 2 to 6 are assigned the same reference numerals as in FIGS. The movement guide portion 122 of the pillar trim mounting clip 300 shown in FIGS. 10 to 12 has a linear portion 340. The linear portion 340 extends on a straight line extending from the attachment body 110 in the moving direction of the front pillar trim 30.
11 and 12, when the airbag 60 starts to inflate and the front pillar trim 30 starts to move, the mounting opening 38 of the front pillar trim 30 passes through the linear portion 340 of the movement guide portion 122. Therefore, the linear portion 340 facilitates the movement of the front pillar trim 30 when the airbag 60 is initially inflated. The length of the linear portion 340 can be appropriately set according to the amount of lift of the front pillar trim 30 that accompanies the inflation pressure of the airbag. Thereby, the airbag 60 can be deployed at an early stage.
As shown in FIGS. 10 and 12, a wavy part 124 and a bridge part 226 including a fragile part 228 are disposed between the linear part 340 and the movement locking part 130. After the attachment opening 38 passes through the linear part 340, the bridge part 226 is broken at the weak part 228 by the inflation pressure of the airbag 60, and the waved part 124 inhibits the movement of the attachment opening 38. Therefore, the impact generated when the front pillar trim 30 is lifted can be mitigated by the bridge portion 226 and the wave-like portion 124.
As described above, the clip 300 shown in FIGS. 10 to 12 has the same function as the clip 100 shown in FIGS. 2 to 6 and the clip 200 shown in FIGS. Further, the clip 300 can quickly deploy the airbag 60, and then can mitigate the impact caused by the lift of the front pillar trim 30.
The clip may be used for attaching the front pillar trim to the front pillar as described above, or may be used for attaching the trim to the center pillar and the rear pillar.
Assist grip may be provided on the front pillar trim.
The wavy portion may be curved in a plane or may be curved in a three-dimensional manner. The wavy portion may be elastically deformed or may not be elastically deformed.
The movement guide part may have a plurality of wavy parts or one wavy part.
The movement guide part may have a wave-like part as an impact relaxation mechanism, or may have another structure. For example, the impact mitigating mechanism may be a protruding portion that protrudes in a direction that intersects with the extending direction of the movement guide portion.
The movement guide part may have a plurality of bridge parts that connect all the bridge parts as shown in FIG. 6, or may have a bridge part that connects several bridge parts. The fragile part may be formed in all the bridge parts, or the fragile part may be formed in one or several bridge parts.
Fragile part may be formed in a part of the bridge part or may be formed in the whole bridge part. For example, the fragile portion may be formed in the entire bridge portion by reducing the thickness in the entire bridge portion.
