Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a clip for attaching a pillar trim.
  • a vehicle such as an automobile has a roof member (for example, a roof panel) disposed above a side wall (for example, a door, a body side panel, etc.) of the vehicle main body and a pillar that supports the roof member. Since most of the pillars are made of metal (for example, steel plate material), the pillars are covered with pillar trims that form the inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle.
  • the pillar trim is configured by combining an appropriate synthetic resin material, fiber material, and the like in the same manner as other trim materials.
  • the pillar trim covers the pillar and has a design function of making the vehicle interior wall a smooth surface shape and a function of protecting the occupant when the vehicle collides. For example, a front pillar is disposed at the front of the vehicle.
  • the front pillar is covered with a front pillar trim configured as an inner wall of the passenger compartment from the inside of the vehicle.
  • An airbag device generally called a curtain airbag is provided in a vehicle for protecting a passenger in the event of a vehicle collision.
  • the airbag device includes an airbag, and the airbag is folded and stored in the front pillar and the roof side rail.

  • the airbag is inflated and deployed in a curtain shape along the side of the passenger compartment, and can protect the occupant during a collision.
  • the airbag stored in the front pillar is folded and stored inside the front pillar trim. The airbag pushes the rear end portion of the front pillar trim due to the inflation pressure of the airbag at the time of a vehicle collision, and develops along the side surface of the passenger compartment from a gap generated between the front pillar and the front pillar trim.
  • JP 2010-168044 A discloses a clip for attaching a pillar trim.
  • the clip includes an attachment body that attaches the pillar trim to the pillar, and a restriction body that regulates an amount by which the pillar trim is lifted from the pillar when the airbag is inflated.
  • the restricting body has a length that allows an amount of the pillar trim to be lifted.
  • the front end of the restricting body is provided with a locking portion that restricts the pillar trim from moving more than necessary for deployment of the airbag.
  • the pillar trim mounting clip is linear or bow-shaped. Therefore, when the airbag is deployed and the pillar trim is detached from the pillar, the pillar trim is lifted from the pillar at a stretch by the inflation pressure. As a result, the pillar trim instantaneously reaches the locking portion formed at the tip of the clip regulating body. For this reason, the impact associated with the inflation of the airbag concentrates on the locking part, and the locking part tends to break. Therefore, there is a concern that the clip is damaged and the pillar trim is dropped from the pillar. Or there is a concern that the pillar trim breaks and scatters.
