Description

PRESSURE WALL BUSHING KIT
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present disclosure relates to a pressure wall bushing kit according to the preamble of claim 1. BACKGROUND ART
It is known to apply different bushings to walls for providing a channel for introduction of cables. One such bushing is described in WO2010141090 A which, discloses a cable gland entry seal.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The problem with the prior art is lack of versatile use of the bushings. In general, the bushings proposed are simple and cannot be reused simply. In order to solve some of these problems it is proposed a pressure wall bushing kit comprising a first device, comprising a first element and a second element. The first element comprises a tube section having at least one thread on the outside perimeter of it, and a collar section positioned at one end of the tube section. The collar section comprises a sealing element on the side of the collar section that is facing the tube section for sealing an intersection between the collar section and a pressure wall to which the first element is intended to be mounted. The second element comprises a through hole and a thread applicable to the at least one thread of the first element. Preferably the second element is essentially a nut. The first device is applicable to a through hole of the said pressure wall by introducing the tube section in the through hole and screwing the second element to the first element from an opposing side of the pressure wall in relation to the collar section of the first element. The said first element comprises a thread on the inside perimeter of a through hole. The pressure wall bushing kit further comprises a second device. The second device is engagable to said first element by means of a thread that engages the thread of the through hole, wherein the second device thus is detachably mounted to said first device. The second device can thereby be changed for different uses of the pressure wall bushing kit. The advantage of this pressure wall bushing kit is that it allows to be positioned in a pressure wall without any thread being made in the pressure wall itself. Another advantage is that it allows for different uses as the second device can be changed to another second device having a different use. Thus the solution is flexible. Also it allows for use where the second device needs disposal after a use and thus can be changed to a new second device of the same type or of a different type for a new use. A further advantage is that the applied sealing is able to prevent water from entering under the collar of the first device. A further advantage is that the pressure wall is not exposed to any wear during use of the through hole in the pressure wall. The wear is instead diverted to the first device. It is also an advantage to be able to reach into a pressure vessel for example to reach or connect electronics, or switch purposes or for downloading data from a pressure vessel without fully opening it. Also by being able to open up the pressure wall/vessel it is possible to equalize pressure.
According to a further development of the pressure wall bushing kit, the sealing element of the first device is positioned on the collar section facing the tubular section, preferably such that the first device is operable to prevent water at pressures in a range of 103 - 1,2*106 kPa from entering intersection between the collar section facing a pressure wall to which the first device is intended to be applied. The advantage of this is that the sealing between the collar section and the pressure wall to which it is engaged at mounting, will be more secure. Further the sealing element is positioned such that it engages the outer surface of the wall. Thus it is positioned such that it will not prevent removal of the pressure wall bushing kit, in particular the first element. The preferred pressure range for preventing water from entering the intersection between the collar section and the pressure wall allows for use in any underwater condition or dept. According to a further development of the pressure wall bushing kit the first device is operable to prevent water at a pressure in a range of 104- 1,2*106 kPa, preferably 2*104-0,3*105 kPa, more preferably 3*104-105 kPa. This provides for a less heavy pressure wall bushing kit that is simpler to manufacture. In particular the sealing element can be made less encumbering.
According to a further development of the above there is provided a pressure wall bushing kit wherein the said second device comprises a collar section intended to face the collar section of the first device, wherein the collar section of the second device comprises a seal element on the collar section , such that when applied to the first device the intersection between the collar section of the first device and the second device is sealed in the same way as the intersection between the first device and the pressure a wall .This in short gives a sealing of the intersection between the first and the second device. The advantage is the same as with the sealing on the first device.
According to a further development of the pressure wall bushing kit of the above, the thread of the second device, is positioned on the outside perimeter of the tube section of said second device.
According to a further development of the pressure wall bushing kit of the above, the second device is a plug with a closed end that coincides with a collar section of the second device. The advantage of this is that the pressure wall bushing kit can be put at rest if not needed for the time being. Thus after a through hole is made in a pressure wall the pressure wall can still be used in spite of the pressure wall bushing kit is not needed.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit is proposed wherein the second device is a test equipment device that comprises a central through hole that is adapted for attachment of test equipment. The advantage of this is that the mounting of test equipment can very easily be made by using the appropriate second device with the first device.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit is proposed wherein the second device is a cable passage device that comprises a central cable channel for housing a cable, preferably the central cable channel has a first section with a larger inner diameter than the following section such that the first section can accommodate a fully insulated under water cable, and the ensuing section having smaller inner diameter than the first section can only accommodate the bare cable. The advantage of this is that the mounting of a cable can through a pressure wall very easily be made by using the appropriate second device with the first device. In order to seal the cable that runs through the pressure wall, the second device can be filled by resin. Still the cable will be easily demountable if needed by removing the second device despite the resin fill. By further applying a larger inner diameter at one end and a smaller diameter at an inner end, a full under water cable need not enter the inside of a pressure wall, as this could lead to problems with moisture.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit is proposed further comprising a third device, that can be attached at the opposite end to the collar of the first device, wherein the third device is an inner connection socket that can be combined with any of the second elements, wherein the third device preferably has an inner thread that applies to the same thread as the second element. The advantage of the third device is that depending on the function of the second device an inner connection socket can be attached that can cooperate with the second device, in a fixed manner.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit is proposed wherein the first element is provided with a step on the side of the collar that is intended to face a pressure wall, said step being provided as a thicker central section of the collar, such that it safe guards that the thicker part engages the pressure wall first at all moments of an introduction of the first element into a through hole the pressure wall. The advantage of the step is that the engagement is firm between the first element and the pressure wall. Further expansion is allowed by the sealing element on the collar of the first element, such that a particularly efficient seal is achieved.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit wherein the second device is provided with a step on the side of the second device collar that is intended to face the collar of the first element, said step being provided as a thicker central section of the collar, such that it safe guards that the thicker part engages the collar of the first element first at all moments when mounted to the first element. The advantage of the step is that the engagement is firm between the first element and the pressure wall. Further expansion is allowed by the sealing element on the collar of the first element, such that a particularly efficient seal is achieved.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit is wherein the sealing element of the first device comprises at least one O-ring. The advantage of this is that a seal can be achieved easily with a standard seal element. The O-ring is chosen according to the desired level of pressure resistance.
According to a further development a pressure wall bushing kit wherein at least the first element of the first device is made from a different material than the second device, wherein this material is a non-corrosive material, preferably a plastic material, more preferred both the first element and the second element of the first device 1 is made from said non-corrosive material. The advantage of this is that corrosion can be prevented between the first device and the pressure wall, in particular when compared with a device that is screwed directly into the pressure wall. And at the same time it allows for the second device to be isolated from corrosion to the wall by the first device. Thus the second device can be more freely designed without need to take steps for corrosion interaction between second device and the pressure wall.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The present disclosure relates to a pressure wall bushing kit. Such a kit is intended to be mounted in a pressure wall. In particular a wall of an object that is intended to be submerged in water.
In figure 1 a pressure wall bushing kit 1 is disclosed. The main part of the kit is a first element 1'. The first element 1' has an elongated tubular section 11 that is intended to be introduced into a through hole 71 of a pressure wall 70, se figure 2. The first element 1' further comprises a collar section 10 that has the function of a flange. The collar section 10 is positioned at one end 14 of the first element 1'. The end 14 is intended to be outside a pressure wall 70, see figure 2. The tubular section 11 comprises a thread 15 on the inside of the first element l'for the attachment of a second device 2, 3, 5. The thread 15 is located on the inside perimeter of the first element 1'. Thus the first element 1' comprises a through hole 19 that runs from one end 14 to the other end 17. A sealing element 12 is provided on the collar section 10. The sealing element is preferably an O-ring that is positioned in an O-ring track. But the O-ring is not mandatory other sealing elements are thinkable. The sealing element 12 prevents pressurised water between the intersection of the collar section 10 and a pressure wall 70. The sealing element 10 is preferably ring shaped and extends around the collar section 10 at an even distance to the centre line 7 of the first element 1'. On the opposite end 17 to the collar section there is provided a thread 16 on the outside perimeter. The thread 16 extends from the end to a notch 13 with no thread.
In general the first element 1' is has a round shape that is symmetric around the centre line 7. Other shapes is thinkable however round shape is preferred.
The first device 1 also comprises a second element 80, figure 2. The second element 80 is essentially a nut. However the second element 80 could have ring shape. The second element 80 has a thread 81, on the inside of a through hole. The thread 81 is engagable with a thread 16 of the first element 1'. The first device 1 is applied to a through hole 71 of a pressure wall 70 by introducing the tube section 11 into the through hole 71 and screwing the second element 80 onto the first element 1'.
The pressure wall bushing kit 1 further comprises a second device 2, 3, 5, figure 1.
The second device is interchangeable depending on the use of the pressure wall bushing kit 1 by means of a thread 25, 35, 55, on the second device figure 3,4, 6. In a preferred disclosure a sealing 22, 32, 52 of the same kind that is present of the firs element 1'.
A second device according to figure 3 is disclosed. This second device 2 is essentially a plug that is used when the passage through the pressure wall 70 is not to be used. The second device 2 has a closed end 24, with a collar section 20. A second device 3 according to figure 4 is also disclosed. This device 3 is a test equipment device 3, that has a central through hole 36. The central through hole 36 is adapted such that a test equipment can be attached. For example there can be a pressure probe, a
thermometer, a GPS receiver or the like. A second device 5 according to figure 6 is also disclosed. This device is a cable passage device 5. A central cable channel 56 is comprised in the cable passage device 5. A cable is intended to be introduced through the central cable channel 53. In a preferred aspect of the disclosure a first section 56 that has larger diameter than a following ensuing section 54. The first section 56 can thus accommodate a fully insulated under water cable. The ensuing, middle section 54 has a smaller diameter such that it can only accommodate the bare cable. Adaptation of the respective diameter is of course needed depending on which cable is to be used. The cable passage device 5 can be filled with a resin in order to stabilize and water proofing the central cable channel 53. As the cable passage device 5 can be detached from the first device 1, the resin fil will not prevent a new cable to be introduced by means of a new cable passage device 5. Or the present cable passage device 5 can be cleaned more easy as it can be removed.
According to a further development of the pressure wall bushing kit 1 the sealing ability is improved by introducing a step 10a, 20a, 30a, 50a, see figure 7. The step improves the sealing of the first element 1', the second device 2,3 and 5. If an O-ring is used it will be more evenly compressed thus preventing leaks. The position of the step is from the centre out to the notch of the sealing 12, 22, 32, and 52. Some water for example is thus allowed to protrude to the notch from the outside. However this is of no significance for the important sealing of the central parts of the first element 1' or the second device 2, 3 and 5.
The seals of the first and second device are preferably made by O-rings that are positioned in notches that extend around the central line 71 of the first element 1' collar section 10, and the second devices collar sections, 20, 30, 50.
In terms of pressure of water that the first device and the second device is made to sustain it should be comprised by the sealing element 12, 22, 32, 52 is positioned on the collar section 10, 20, 30, 50 facing the tubular section 11, preferably such that the first device 1 and or the second device 2, 3, 5 is operable to prevent water at pressures in a range of 103 - 1,2*106 kPa from entering intersection between the collar section 10, 20, 30, 50 facing a pressure wall 70 or the collar 10. It is preferred that the first device and the second device 1, 2, 3, 5 are operable to prevent water at a pressure in a range of 104- 1,2*106 kPa, preferably 2*104- 0,3*105 kPa, more preferably 3*104-105 kPa. The pressure wall bushing kit 1 can also be provided with a third device 4. This device 4 is preferably a socket 4 that can be attached to the inner end 17 of the first element 1', see figure 5. The socket can be used with any of the second devices 2, 3 and 5. The third device 4 is attached by means of a thread 45 on the inside of its through hole 42, this thread attaches to the same thread 16,as the second element 80. By attaching the third device 4 by means of the thread 45 it is securely fixed.
The first device 1 can be made in a material that is different from the second device 2, 3 and 5 Preferably at least the first element 1' of the first device 1 is made from a different material than the second device 2, 3, 5. This material is preferably a non-corrosive material, preferably a plastic material. It is also possible to make both the first element 1' and the second element
