Sorry, please close this issue. Zynaddsubfx built perfectly on my "other" linux mint machine. My problem must have been a quirky build machine that I usually use for my Ada games.

You may close this issue; just thought the info would be interesting to you. I have just installed LMMS and, apparently zynaddsubfx is builtin. So I guess I do not need to build separately. Thx.
