"A Powerful Tool for Media Outreach with Room to Improve in Reporting"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

Reporter Database & Pitching Tools: A Clear Strength

One of Muck Rack’s standout features is its robust and well-maintained reporter database. The platform makes it easy to search, filter, and identify relevant journalists, which has significantly improved our outreach precision. Even more helpful is the ability to pitch directly from the platform. This functionality streamlines our process by allowing us to manage media lists and send targeted pitches all in one place—saving time and reducing the need to jump between tools.

Media Monitoring: Solid Coverage

On the media monitoring front, Muck Rack does a good job of capturing earned media coverage across digital sources. Alerts are timely and accurate, and the platform helps us keep track of brand mentions and campaign performance. For general tracking needs, it performs well and is a reliable tool for staying on top of PR results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Reporting: Room for Improvement

Where Muck Rack falls a bit short is in its reporting functionality. Compared to our previous tool (Cision), we’ve found the reporting interface to be less intuitive and somewhat clunky. Customizing reports requires more time and effort, and the output lacks the polished look and flexibility we had come to expect. While it’s not a dealbreaker, this is definitely an area where Muck Rack could improve to better support PR teams that need to create executive-friendly summaries and visualizations of campaign impact. "Truly love Muckrack!"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I love the database and the fact that the media/journalists ACTUALLY use it to. The fact they can claim their profiles, update it, and then some share it, makes me feel more confident in the accuracy of the information Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

The coverage reports and dashboards, so overall reporting. It lacks more info. Like "Coverage by media type" would be great to have, via pie chart then a graphic for "Coverage volume timeline" which breaks down coverage media type by months so each month, showing what typesof media covered. then listing our the leading print sources, leading online sources, and leading tv programs.also potential audience reach would be great too Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

So glad to hear you are using Muck Rack to find accurate media contacts and engage in productive outreach. Really appreciate your feedback about the data points that you would like to see in reporting - notably a single chart with coverage by media type over time. Noted, and it's something we are working to improve.

"Game changer for any media pro"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

MR has been game changing for me. Its intelligent ability to surface the most relevant and spread of reporters is unreal. I use it everyday! The distribution service via AWS is insanely slick. Really appreciate the customer support, the chat function is real time and I love. They are so easy to chat to that I've never had to get on a call with them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

The media report analysis / insights could be better. I know they are working on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Muckrack is great, but it could be better"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

Muckrack is a quick and efficient way to track down a media contact's credentials, all in one place. Muckrack makes it easy to see where and what the media writes for/about, available contact information and preferences, common topics and latest pieces all on their profile. This makes it easy to cross check who you're connecting with, and where your client may end up being featured. The search terms can make your search very specific, which is great for niche clients and topics. I use Muckrack every day for work, and it is a ways above any competitors I've seen thus far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Muckrack either doesn't have an updated list of contacts on their system, or there just aren't very many journalists signed up. It seems like each list can pull tens or even hundreds of contacts that don't necessarily fit well within the search terms. Their "alerts" system is great, but not perfect. I often will search for names and products myself in their system to find media hits instead of them going to my inbox in one alert like its supposed to. And for alerts, it will pull ANYTHING that mentions the word/phrase because you can't make the terms super specific to categories, which can be frustrating when you get 100s of irrelevant results for one client. Their system isn't exactly the most user friendly, and often has issues or runs very slow. Their customer support team is very responsive, however. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Thanks so much for your feedback! We'd love to learn more and see if we an help resolve the challenges you mentioned about finding highly targeted contacts and setting up alerts or digests the way you need. If you haven't tried Topics filters in your People or Article searches, that's a good way to narrow down to specific categories as you mentioned. Check out the article linked below, and please do reach out to your Customer Success Manager or contact our Support team and share some examples.

"One of the best search tools for journalists, hands down"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

-The US market is well covered on Muck Rack

-The new "tags" for topics they cover is beyond helpful, as before it could just say "entertainment" for beat, but now the tags really help to make that more specific

-The search interface is clean and easy to use, which is imperative for list building Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

-Some profiles are lacking - either the contact information isn't available or what is on their profile is out of date/no longer accurate

-Latin American markets are not well covered, the platform largely only covers US and Canada

-We've moved to an external email platform as the integration in Muck Rack was too basic Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Awesome to hear that "most covered topics" helps you easily find relevant journalists! And we appreciate your feedback about areas we could improve. Our editorial team continually reviews and updates contact information -- please do let us know if you find profiles that are out of date so we can look into it!

"Productive PR work cannot be imagined without Muck Rack"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

The system is rich! Shortly saying, Muck Rack is essential in productive and effective PR work. It offers a comprehensive PR management tools that are designed to streamline the workflow of PR - media searches (probably mostly used by me and my team members), creating databases, monitoring, reporting, and the list goes on. We use it on a daily basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Probably the complexity of the system, which is both an advantage and disadvantage of Muck Rack. The system offers so much, so there's always something new to learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Thank you for sharing your experience with Muck Rack! "Muck Rack is the most user-friendly media monitoring software we've used."
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

We use Muck Rack just about every day. It is an easy-to-learn platform, and it was far easier to implement into our daily workflow than Cision. It also works much more efficiently for our media reporting, cutting down time. Customer support is generally responsive, whether it's adding a new teammate or adding a new reporter contact to the database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Muck Rack is not the most feature-rich media monitoring software out there. It is not as robust as Cision, for example, but it does make up for it in the ease of use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Thanks so much for your review! Great to hear that Muck Rack saves you time and supports your full PR workflow from media monitoring to media outreach to reporting. We're continuously innovating and adding new features, and we welcome feedback from customers about what you would find valuable, so feel free to let us know when you have an idea!

"Strong PR database"
What do you like best about Muck Rack?

Strong and pretty fleshed out PR database. Intuitive and easy to use. Staff is supportive and quick to respond to queries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

Sometimes the SimilarWeb numbers are not up to date, especially for newer publications. Sometimes there are some back-end errors when adding custom emails. I wish the print coverage feature were more robust and as they appear in actual print or broadcast, not just a transcript. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Glad to hear that you find Muck Rack intuitive and easy to use and thanks for the kind words about our supportive team. We appreciate the feedback -- feel free to reach out to our support team when you experience errors so we can investigate. Noted about the interest in clips for print -- we do include clips with our broadcast monitoring, and for magazine monitoring as well.

What do you like best about Muck Rack?

I like the simplicity off getting to pull a variety of information. I'm able to find what I need easily, quickly, and accurately! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Muck Rack?

I utilize the media alerts - but I don't export the spreadsheet of content like I should since there's a lot of coverage that I don't need to include! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Gabrielle Smith of Muck Rack

Awesome to hear that Muck Rack helps you get accurate information quickly and easily. For media alerts, there may be a way to narrow down your search, like using topics filters, so that you get the exact coverage you need to track.
