What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

Dynamo has significantly streamlined our workflows across the firm. The most helpful aspect is how centralized and customizable the platform is—it allows us to manage CRM, pipeline, cash flow tracking, fund metrics (like IRR and TVPI), and portfolio reporting all in one place. The Holdings Insight module has been especially valuable for uploading and analyzing quarterly commentary from our GPs, and the ability to build custom reports, like LP tearsheets and quarterly updates, has greatly improved the quality and efficiency of our client communications. We also appreciate the integration capabilities and are excited to start leveraging the fund admin module with our newest fund. What do you dislike about Dynamo Software?

One downside we've encountered is with the PMV module—it didn’t fully meet our expectations for modeling complex cap tables and waterfalls. We were initially hoping to build more detailed ownership and distribution models within the platform, but found its capabilities in that area somewhat limited. Like any robust system, there have been a few kinks to work through, especially given the complexity of our fund structure and reporting needs. That said, the Dynamo support team has been highly responsive and collaborative in helping us address those challenges and tailor the system to our use case. What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

Dynamo is purpose-built for capital allocators and investment teams, which makes a big difference. The platform is highly customizable, allowing us to tailor dashboards, reports, and workflows to fit how our team actually works. The tagging system, integrated email logging, and project tracking capabilities make it easier to collaborate across investors, managers, and internal initiatives. Plus, the Dynamo team has been genuinely responsive to feedback and thoughtful in rolling out improvements.

The ability to centralize all of our investor, manager, and fund data in one place paired with workflow automation and intuitive reporting has saved us a significant amount of time. What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

We use Dynamo for two functions- Document retention/organization and Investment accounting. The document retention/organization is easy to use and very effective to find and pull documents down. The entire team- CIO, Investment team and Operations all use Dynamo on a daily basis. The Investment Accounting function has enhanced the operations productivity and allowed us to get more information in a timely fashion. What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

Dynamo has a fairly easy-to-understand interface that can be amended for each client. I use it daily and the customer support function is also very high quality. I believe that there are lots of features that are useful for a variety of clients, with the Excel plug-in the most useful for me, allowing quick financial analysis and the push of data into Dynamo itself. I think that the controls system within Dynamo was not working correctly initially, so there were a few issues with information being overwritten due to a new download taking the place of the previous download. There were also various instances where I needed support for something that was fairly basic, so a readily available guide (in searchable PDF format) would be useful, if possible. What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

I would say the relational properties of how it allows data to be utilised is a great way to get teams and firms or our size get more organised and competent in how we work, both individual and collaboratively. Dynamo has shown that simplicity can be achieved without compromising on productivity.

Another great thing about Dynamo is how customisable it can be for someone to administer on the back end, like myself, without operating on code or unnecessary technical restrictions.

The most wonderful thing about Dynamo, actually for me personally, is the team that supported the integration and transition of our crm. The support, knowledge and advice they have provided us is hands down excellent and it makes us feel less lonely when it comes to systems and change management. What do you dislike about Dynamo Software?

It does take a while to get used to the interface and get users to get used to it. Like with every other software. There's not that much on screen UI help/prompts going on, so it does seem a little bit more hands on to have to explore by oneself, and also navigate the help/support centre.

Also, it would be great to have the data import mechanism work for no PC users operating on Mac like myself. But so far I've been able to switch to a PC just for this need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

Configurability is a major win. Dynamo allows us to tailor the platform to our needs, rather than forcing us to work around rigid, out-of-the-box solutions. We can create user-defined fields to make the system flexible enough to accommodate customized workflows, data models, and interfaces that suit how we actually work.

Navigation and data access are intuitive. Compared to other CRM or investment management platforms we've used, Dynamo has a shorter learning curve. It's easy to query and locate the data you need, which has made day-to-day usage much smoother. The platform also includes powerful tools for bulk updates, while maintaining the right level of administrative control—bulk actions are reserved for admins, which helps manage risk.

Empowering admin power users. One of Dynamo’s biggest advantages is that we don’t need to rely on consultants for everyday system updates. Our admin team can respond quickly to user requests, making minor changes without external support. What do you dislike about Dynamo Software?

System Performance - Overall usability is strong, and the system performs well for general day-to-day tasks. However, we’ve experienced slowness and occasional lag when running reports or executing complex queries. Performance optimizations—particularly for high-volume data users—would significantly enhance the experience, especially as we increasingly rely on Dynamo as our single source of truth.

Customer Support & Training - Support is generally responsive and helpful, but we’ve encountered delays in resolving more technical or complex issues. Establishing faster escalation paths and improving technical documentation would be beneficial. Additionally, more comprehensive and up-to-date training resources—such as on-demand video tutorials and in-product guidance—would empower users to solve basic issues independently and reduce reliance on support. What do you like best about Dynamo Software?

The ability to capture data and relate it to other data which helps simplify our reporting needs and establishes a golden source of truth. In addition the platform is "open" and data can be ingested or shared with other platforms/sources. The platform allows us to also capture data from connected stakeholders who sit outside our organization meaning we can quickly obtain information and aggregate/report in near real time.

The platform is also flexible and we have customized it for many of our internal process that support our deal lifecycle.
