My favorite thing about GeoHECRAS is the ability to visualize large sets of data over a large area. The program is user friendly and can be easily learned using the helpful videos they have on their website. Their customer service team is also great whether its about purchasing the software or when handling specific engineering questions. They're always eager to help. The only downsides of using GeoHecRAS is that sometimes, with larger sets of data, it can take quite a while to run the models. Every time I use GeoHECRAS I learn something or find another tool that saves me time in my hydraulic analyses. I've found that not only does this software reduce our time analyzing hydraulics, but it also makes it easier to teach young engineers how to model hydraulics because it's more, dare I say, fun. I would like to see GeoHECRAS be able to output all cross-section geometry data (STA & elevations namely) concisely. I think that this would save some time during certain modeling scenarios that come up more frequently than I used to assume. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In GeoHECRAS, there are many features that make it easy to obtain the information required for most standards. When you have a question or trying to understand the features that are implemented, the program have a question mark that will direct you to their Knowledge website that will give you a brief description on what the function is used for. Saving is sometimes an issue, especially when working on larger projects. It is inconvenient that we need to save everything on local drive then archive or save as onto your shared drive. Every other feature has been amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like how much GeoHECRAS simplifies the modeling process for my LOMR's. It also brings a variety of tools together in one (StreamStats, NLCD, Elevation data, etc.) which helps things come together quicker and easier. I also really appreciate their customer service. They have also been very responsive when I had a question and hosted several video meetings/trainings to get me more comfortable with the software. I also like the layout of the tools. The user interface for GeoHECRAS is much friendlier to the average user than the base HEC-RAS program. The integration they have with many agencies such as NRCS and Web Soil Service creates a one stop shop for my modeling needs. Overall, it makes my modeling much quicker, easier, and efficient. GeoHECRAS is an interface that allows you to combine GIS, CAD, and HEC-RAS into one product. I like that I am able to use one program as opposed to three to do my job. The only thing I dislike about GeoHECRAS is that when it lags it lags, but that does not happen often. In addition, the support team at GeoHECRAS is very quick to address any issues you are having with the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have used GeoHECRAS for many projects and it has provided outcomes and results that I can pass on to clients.The online support using the software has been very beneficial to complete projects successfully. Determining the exact amount of river reach cross-sections to provide the best results and the distance that the river reach needs to be is not the most clear. The results tab provides warnings that are not always clear on how to address the issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use GeoHECRAS mainly for generating good contours for design and survey projects. I am able to combine flown topo from a variety of sources, along with topographical survey to generate smooth contours. GeoHECRAS is capable of handling a significant amount of data and screen it down to a manageable size for other programs. The ease of use and customer support has been excellent. GeoHECRAS is user-friendly and allows me to utilize a number of features to come up with the best deliverables I can. The interface is easy to refer to whether working with other engineers or showing our clients the results of a study. It has provided my firm additional opportunities to serve our clients in numerous ways and has saved me a significant amount of time. This has allowed myself personally to be more effective while reducing budgets for clients I'm working with. Lastly, the customer service for CivilGEO is incredible. They're always willing to help however they can and are quick to respond to any question you have. Overall, it's a great software that I would recommend to any engineering firm. I don't have any recommendations or dislikes regarding GeoHECRAS. The software has been available for a couple years and CivilGEO has really taken the care to make it as perfect as possible. GeoHECRAS allows one to use HEC-RAS in an interface that functions much more intuitively than the standard HEC-RAS. In performing project reviews, it presents me with a much clearer picture for looking at the bones of the model and rapidly checking different components for potential errors. At times when exporting a GeoHECRAS file to a user outside of the office, there can be some manipulations at least in visual representations of geometry if they are opening the file in HEC-RAS. This typically is most present in roadways. While the data associated with the cross-sections is correct, they will visually not carry over properly and may result in errors if the cross-section geometry is repulled.
