What do you like best about Homebase?

We’ve been using it for scheduling, time tracking, and team communication, and it’s made a huge difference in how we operate day to day. The interface is user-friendly, updates in real-time, and keeps everyone on the same page. Our staff loves being able to check their schedules, swap shifts, and clock in/out straight from their phones. Plus, the customer support is responsive and helpful whenever we need it. What do you dislike about Homebase?

Sometimes the app can be glitchy, especially when staff are clocking in or out—it doesn’t always register right away, which creates some confusion with time tracking. The notifications can also be inconsistent, and there are moments when schedule changes don’t push through to everyone in real-time. While the core features are solid, some of the more advanced tools feel locked behind the paid tiers, which can be limiting for smaller teams. Still, with a few refinements, it could be even better. What do you like best about Homebase?

1. Ease of Use - the interface is intuitive and user-friendly for both managers and hourly employees. Staff can clock in/out, view schedules, and request time off from their phones.

2. Scheduling Simplicity - drag-and-drop scheduling, availability tracking, and shift swap features make creating and updating schedules quick and painless.

3. Built-In Communication Tools - the built-in chat/messaging system helps keep staff updated on shift changes or announcements, improving team communication.

4. Labor Cost Insights

What do you dislike about Homebase?

1. Notifications Overload

Employees sometimes receive too many notifications, especially around minor updates like slight schedule changes or reminders, which can cause notification fatigue. Or especially getting notifications for features we don't even have, like time clocking for shift breaks.

2. Limited Offline Functionality

What do you like best about Homebase?

I like that its basic features are free which are enough for small business owners with limited employees and does not need to full features. Its free version has many features available to use and is very reasonable. Its paid versions are great for business as my business will grow. I have been using it since 2018 and have recommended it to many business owners that need time clock in, and scheduling. The team can view their own schedule make request for time off and more. What do you dislike about Homebase?

the price for the full or advance features. Like payroll, having the base fee, then for each employee, and or subcontractor or independent contractor those cost can make using the program expensive, especially if certain contractors are only used for 1 to 3 projects. or for limited time periods Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Homebase?

Homebase has made my job so much easier by keeping everything in one place. It's incredibly helpful for both myself and my team-we can create schedules, trade shifts, find coverage, and request time off all within the same platform. What do you dislike about Homebase?

While Homebase is a great tool for scheduling, there are some limitations within the app that could be improved. Requesting time off and setting availability can be a bit difficult for staff to manage through the mobile app. Adding more flexibility around editing or deleting time-off requests and adjusting availability would make the experience smoother and more user-friendly for both managers and team members. What do you like best about Homebase?

There are several benefits to using the app - but the top two would be the ability to work through and monitor scheduling in a way that allows you to either schedule ahead, or post openings that allow staff to pick up shifts. In addition to this, because we have a lot of seasonal staff that rotates year after year, mostly college age students, the ability to set the geo net that disables check in or check out when they are near or around the workplace is a great benefit. What do you dislike about Homebase?

I don't use all of the features in the app - but we do get some pushback about difficulty using it from the staff side. There are so many options, that for those maybe not as tech inclined - it's overwhelming at times. I also would like to have a little more control over the notifications and how this works on each users phone. I send messages to staff on occasion and rarely get notes back or see that they have read it. This tells me that they are not being notified, as I know these kids have their phones on them at ALL times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Homebase makes life easier for owners and managers"
What do you like best about Homebase?

The most helpful part of Homebase is that it integrates with our Clover POS system. Once an employee is created in Clover it’s easy for the employee to clock in/out for their shifts. Homebase ensures they clock in when they enter their PIN code to access the register so employees don’t miss clock ins ver often. What do you dislike about Homebase?

The only thing we struggle with at times is network related. If our POS drops off the network or internet goes down sometimes data doesn’t sync right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Homebase?

Homebase is easy to setup, easy for the admins to use, and easy for the staff to use. We have all we need for quick and accurate payroll, scheduling, tracking PTO, and time clocks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Homebase?

The only downside is I help Homebase develop a really neat feature and once they rolled it out they wanted to charge me for it. Oh well, it was still a good idea and I would certainly use the feature but not for an additional cost to my subscription.

One other needed feature is a manager only section of the schedule that is private and doesn't get published. For example, I'd love to note on an random Monday "bring in donuts" or "follow up if this person is tardy" , or "supervisor will have just arrived back from vacay, go easy on them, or "drop these shifts by this day if the work load is light" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Homebase?

One of the main issues we’ve encountered with Homebase is its performance — the platform often runs very slowly and takes too long to load or process tasks, which really affects our workflow.

Additionally, as a Canada-based company, we’ve noticed that the system isn’t well-optimized for Canadian users. We’re unable to properly add Canadian addresses or tailor settings to reflect local requirements. This limitation makes it challenging to use the platform efficiently, and it's something that definitely needs improvement.

What do you like best about Homebase?

We’ve had a fantastic experience using Homebase for our business. What do you dislike about Homebase?

While we’ve had a great overall experience, there are a couple of areas where Homebase could improve. The payroll feature is not currently available in Canada, which is unfortunate, as it would be great to manage everything in one platform.

Additionally, the ability to view schedules by department is locked behind a more premium package. This feels like a basic functionality that should be included in the standard plans, especially for businesses with multiple teams or departments.

"Simple & Flexible Scheduler"
What do you like best about Homebase?

A very easy way to track who is in our store, shifts are covered, and who is on any given day.

It very easy to repeat schedules, so once a rota has been established its easy to use that going forward.

I have a feeling I am only scratching the surface of what it can do, but I don't need much: I just need to manage whether we have sufficient cover in our store.

Equally, the free plans cover what I need - if it didn't, there are very reasonable plans anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Homebase?

Nothing that I can think of - free plan restricts some things, but the only one I have ever hit the limit of was notes on days (I cannot remember how many, but there was a restriction on how many can be used/onth on the free plan). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
