Lead Gen Form fields

Last updated: 3 months ago

You can select up to 12 informational fields when creating a Lead Gen Form to help you tailor the form to your specific objective.

Learn about the sections and fields you can include on Lead Gen Forms.

Lead details

In this section, you can choose to include fields from the following categories:

  • Contact
  • Work
  • Company
  • Education
  • Demographic

Here's a tip

By default, first name, last name, and email address  are pre-selected fields that count toward the total number of twelve fields allowed on the form. Clear the checkbox next to these fields if you don’t want to include them on your form.

LinkedIn will pre-populate form fields with a member's contact and professional demographic details based on the information they have shared on their LinkedIn profile. Gender will not be pre-filled from the member’s profile information.

The following fields can be edited by the member:

  • Work email address
  • Work phone number
  • Personal email address
  • Personal phone number
  • Gender
  • Any fields that the member does not have filled out on their LinkedIn profile

Important to know

If you choose the work email address field, you’ll have an option to select Validate work email. This option allows you to block the most commonly used free email domains (for example, Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail) from being submitted in the work email field. This option doesn't block every possible email domain but can increase the number of work emails that come through Lead Gen Forms. Validating work email might improve the quality of leads, but the submission rates of your form might decrease if the member isn’t willing to disclose their work email address, or they attempt to submit a non-work email address.

Custom questions

You can enter up to three custom questions on your Lead Gen Form. Keep in mind:

  • Custom questions count toward the 12 question maximum for the entire form.
  • Custom questions are required fields that the member needs to answer to submit the form.
  • These fields are supported by all marketing automation or CRM partners except Microsoft.
  • Multiple choice custom questions allow the member to choose from a list of advertiser-defined answers.
    • Note: The first answer will be pre-selected by default.
  • Single line text custom questions allow the member to enter a free-text answer.

Disclosure checkboxes

You have the option of adding disclosure checkboxes to get the members specific consent for any additional ways you intend to use the information they submit on the form.

You can enter up to five custom checkboxes on a Lead Gen Form. Keep in mind:

  • Disclosure checkboxes are optional and aren’t included in your total number of form fields (maximum of 12 allowed).
  • Add your Checkbox message in the Enter your terms and conditions field.
  • You can add as many hyperlinks as needed in your checkbox message. The maximum character limit is 500 characters.
  • If you’re using a third-party marketing automation or CRM platform, check the chart in the Leads details section to see if it’s compatible with custom checkboxes.
