Types of leave in Tunisia
Tunisian employees are entitled to one day’s leave per month, after working for an entire month. Annual paid leave is typically capped at 15 days off per year. Workers are given extra days of paid leave if their annual vacation is interrupted by sickness, accidents, or a public holiday.
Tunisia observes 13 public holidays in 2022 which lasts for 18 days in total.
Sick leave and pay benefit is paid after a five-day waiting period, up to a maximum of 180 days per year.
Expectant mothers are entitled to 30 days of paid maternity leave, with 15 more days given if the employee experiences illness or complications due to pregnancy. Maternity benefits are paid by social security.
Fathers are entitled to one day of paid paternity leave within seven days after their child is delivered.
Nursing mothers are entitled to two breaks of 30 minutes each to feed their baby until the child turns 12 months of age, in addition to the normal break time scheduled for the employee.
