Ably offers a simple yet power and reliable infrastructure for realtime use cases, with a very well-designed and developer friendly platform. Our engineers are hard to please, but they praised Ably for the ease of use in integrating with our platform and building an implementation on top of, including several options for supported languages and frameworks! Ably have also been extremely helpful, proactive and collaborative in working with us over several years of partnership now, always friendly faces that are ready to help us out. Honestly there's very little we haven't enjoyed about our work with Ably to date, perhaps the only minor gripe is that when we onboarded Ably they hadn't yet built out some of the plug-and-play application examples we could've made use of (ie a realtime chat client), but they've added a lot more since then, and with the ease of integration it didn't take us too long to roll our own - I encourage Ably to keep building more customisable off-the-shelf solutions to accelerate value for your customers! Ably has been a key part of how we deliver real-time race data across the NASCAR Tracks App, NASCAR Mobile App, and NASCAR.com. We use ABLY every weekend for NASCAR live events at scale.

The implementation experience has been excellent. Ably’s well-documented APIs and flexible SDKs make it easy to integrate into both our web and mobile stacks—including our React Native-based Tracks app. We were able to integrate ABLY in to our workflows quicker than we originally planned due to their help, and well documented systems.

4. Pub/Sub Architecture That Just Works

Ably’s channel-based publish/subscribe model maps perfectly to our needs—streaming car position updates, driver audio triggers, and leaderboard changes to fans in real time.

We appreciate the real-time monitoring and analytics tools Ably provides. It helps our dev and ops teams understand traffic patterns, message throughput, and potential bottlenecks with zero guesswork. If we had to nitpick, it would be that Ably offers so many powerful features, it can take some upfront planning to decide which capabilities to lean into. Learning the best ways to work with socket based applications, and message delivery / sizes was tricky but Ably had great documentation to assist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has a great feature that makes it easier for us to send real-time messages and stay connected to specific users without conflicting with other customers. Ably also provides support for multiple programming languages, making it easy to use both on the backend server and in frontend applications. One aspect I think will be helpful for us in the future is the reporting feature, which allows us to see if messages have been delivered to a specific channel in real time. Since, sometimes it's struggle to make sure if all the message has been delivered properly from the server into the front end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our product provides real-time reproduction of keystrokes from one client's keyboard to the displays of all others. For our end-users, who rely on our product as their primary means of communication on a continual basis, the most important feature of Ably is its incredible speed and reliability across many geographies. For our developers, the most important feature of Ably has been its ease of integration into many mobile platforms and servers (iOS, web, linux) using many different programming languages (Swift, Javascript, Go).

The Ably SDKs are well documented and easy to use, and the implementation behaves exactly as expected from the docs. We have been delighted with the support provided by the Ably team, who are available seemingly day and night. And the few times we've had questions in their off hours, the Ably community on Discord has been very helpful.

Last but certainly not least, we were able to develop our entire app and test it with users in production environments before we ever committed to a paid contract with Ably. This allowed us to fully explore the platform without the time pressure of a "free trial period." Our only complaint has been the lack of a comprehensive glossary/index to all the SDK docs. There is an incredible wealth of documentation available, but because of the specialized vocabulary, it's not always easy to know what to search for. Luckily, the Ably support team - which chats with you in real time when you submit a question - is always able to point you in the right direction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We send millions of messages via Ably and have never encountered any problems that have been a fault of theirs. The documentation is extreemly clear and accurate, providing great examples of how to solve certain problems you might encounter. The web console is a very useful tool for debugging and helps us clearly determine what messages are being sent when.

I'd highly recommend Ably to anyone looking to remove the hassle of implementing websocket connection, allowing for more time to focus on building fast reliable products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use Ably to send out push notifications and rely on it quite heavily. We decided to go with Ably years ago to avoid having to build or manage it ourselves. It was very easy to set up and reasonable when it came to pricing, so we decided to go for "buy" rather than "build.

Years later, we still use Ably for all push notifications. Initially, we thought we'd use Ably until the cost started to increase and it would be worth managing the push notification service ourselves. But the fact that we don't have to worry about them, and that the price increase due to increased traffic has been reasonable has made it that it's still not a priority Today. We were able to build a chat client as a POC really quickly within our existing native apps with realtime push functionality. Integrated very easily within our react client using the hooks that Ably provide. Great customer support during our development from knowledgeable individuals. We leverage Ably extensively in the new TouchTunes iOS and Android mobile app. Ease of integration and support, rock solid performance and elasticity, and a reasonable pricing strategy were key criteria in our selection of Ably about a year ago.
