I signed up for a free trial with AdCreative.ai on May 20th, expecting to test the platform and decide whether it was a good fit. I never used the product beyond the signup, and honestly didn’t find it useful for my nonprofit work.

On May 25th, I received a promotional-style email saying my trial would end in 2 days – but it looked more like a sales pitch than an actual warning. It included no clear cancellation link, no urgent billing notice, and no real clarity on the consequences of inaction.

To my shock, I was charged $406.80 – twice. That’s more than $800 for a service I never used or authorized beyond the trial. I volunteer with a humanitarian organization and simply cannot afford this.

The process is confusing and borderline deceptive, with vague emails and no confirmation before charging such a large amount. I have reached out to support for a refund and hope they do the right thing.

What I like the most about using AdCreative.ai is the ease of use and how fast it is to generate some eyes catching visuals and videos for social networks. I got UX tricked into a credit card payment of $299 for a plan I never commited for (pro). There is no response via Email, and at no time did I intentionally wanted to become a paid user (AT THAT point).

I contacted their team multiple times by email (no reply) and phone, but nothing was resolved. They ignored my refund request and have not taken any accountability.

I found the platform appealing and very easy to use, The Ad text Generator is seamless dint take much of a time to get used to it and the Template Builder is flawless. This among the best tool i have used till for the Ads.

I did not knowingly subscribe to their “Professional Premium” plan. Worse, I received no invoices, no email notifications, and no billing alerts throughout the entire period — a deliberate setup to avoid detection and prevent cancellation.

When I eventually discovered the charges and raised the matter, I was offered token partial refunds ($747 USD in total) and repeatedly stonewalled. They cited “Terms of Service” while ignoring the fact that I had never used the platform, never received invoices, and never actively confirmed any ongoing subscription.

I have since:

• Lodged a fraud complaint with the French Public Prosecutor (plainte pénale pour escroquerie)

• Filed complaints with the DGCCRF and the European Consumer Centre France

• Initiated legal proceedings through a French firm

• Launched chargeback and fraud action with my bank and American Express

• When I reached out, I was told that refunds are only available within 7 days of each payment, regardless of whether you use the platform or not.

• They offered a 50% refund on one last invoice only, calling it their “final offer.”This felt more like a sales tactic than customer support.

I believe these practices fall under dark pattern billing behavior, where users are subtly misled and trapped into high-value plans they never explicitly opted into.
