"Lokalise is a powerhouse in a cage"
What do you like best about Lokalise?

I use lokalise as a translator every day and appreciate the following:

- Quick loading times

- Quick support responses

- Translation interface is good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

As a power user the following annoyances appeared to me:

Urgency 11/10: Colorful placeholders are nice to look at in the translation view but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD lokalise needs to make the product manager who uploads a translation task double check the file to clean up the returns/newlines so that we translators are not presented with a mess that is an editing nightmare. Lokalise needs to implement a sanitation/normalizing module for that and show an example view of the task so the uploader sees the mess.

Urgency 10/10: Translators should have the option to download reports with match numbers, just like the management team of the company that assigns tasks to us. That way, we can write invoices ourselves and use stepped pricing based on those matches. Now, we are reliant on the management team to receive their reports in time, which is an abysmal situation to be in as a freelance translator. Plus, the report word counts between the management and translator reports differ which is odd and possibly a bug of this platform.

Urgency 10/10: DeepL should be integrated more, in the sense that a translator may use their credentials to log into their DeepL-account to be able to use their glossary and settings within lokalise.

Urgency 8/10: Prevent CSS repainting (page jumping) when a translator moves to a key that they want to translate (by clicking with the mouse or using the keyboard). Currently, my eyes lose track when the grey match list gets opened. Its appearance shifts the page layout, resp. scrolls the page a bit up or down. It would be better if your grey match list gets assigned fixed size boxes. This helps with e.g. DeepL results that take a couple of seconds to arrive and may be long. Additionally, the grey box should be treated as a "position:absolute" item that never interferes with the page layout.

Urgency 8/10: Introduce mandatory field for the project owner to make them set the deadline time. The date without time is useless, since it depends on the tasker's opinion if they mean the previous or mentioned day. Some taskers write the date/time into the info field but some forget it. There needs to be a mandatory date/time field.

Urgency 3/10: Option for setting keys as translated in bulk (instead of mind-numbingly clicking each orange circle).

Urgency 2/10: Translation of a key: The "Cancel"-button should be further away from the "Save" button to prevent accidental hits.

Believe it or not: I've sent this list to the lokalise team in 2021 and still these pressing issues aren't fixed while they only fixed one minor thing with urgency 1/10 (show task title in task view). Lokalise seems to be a company with 5 managers for every 1 programmer.

I still would recommend lokalise as it saves time and money, but it definitely doesn't live up to its potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless localization tool for all your company needs"
What do you like best about Lokalise?

Lokalise has a user-friendly and intuitive interface, making it incredibly easy for both new and experienced translators to work with. The platform also provides extensive support documentation and FAQs, ensuring users can find help when needed. On top of that, the customer support team is exceptional! They respond promptly and assist with any problems or questions that arise during use.

Implementing Lokalise into our existing workflow was seamless. Their support and customer success team were available every step of the way, ensuring a smooth transition. Lokalise covers all the essential aspects of the localization process, including real-time translation memory updates, glossary integration, and personalized AI-based translations that significantly enhance productivity and speed up the delivery process.

Additionally, Lokalise offers a wide range of app integrations and API access to facilitate a smooth workflow for any company’s needs. Overall, this tool strikes the perfect balance between ease of use, powerful features, and exceptional customer support. I highly recommend it to teams looking for a reliable and scalable localization solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

While I don’t have any major dislikes about Lokalise, there are three areas where I believe improvements could be made based on my experience. First, a key feature missing from the editor is the ability to automatically propagate 90-100% matches for empty translations. Currently, this requires repetitive manual updates, where you have to search and fill in keys, which slows down the workflow—especially in larger projects where consistency is crucial.

Second, it would be highly beneficial to have the option to organize, group, and filter languages in the multilingual view. This would make navigating large projects with many languages more efficient, reducing the need to scroll extensively through the list.

Also, the TM sometimes offers matches that are not entirely accurate because its system often lowers the match percentage based on the number of words in the text, which doesn’t always reflect the true level of similarity.

Finally, while the platform is generally responsive, there are occasional instances where it takes a bit longer to load or update. Enhancing the speed during these times would significantly improve the overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lokalise is the perfect fit for our organization"
What do you like best about Lokalise?

It's intuitive and easy to use which makes onboarding our external translators and internal team members super efficient. Several integrations and automations are available. LokaliseAI is easy to implement and integrate into our workflows. Customer Support is fast, reliable and knowledgeable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

Some of the integrations have limitations preventing us from fully taking advantage of them (ex. Braze, Figma). Using the APIs to integrate tools should be made easier. I wish Lokalise had a robust localization workflow portal (i.e. ticketing system) which allowed teams to submit translation requests and track them in a single place, for all projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Brown of Lokalise

Thank you for your feedback! We are happy to hear that you find our platform intuitive and that our integrations and customer support have positively impacted your workflows. We also appreciate your insights on integrations and the suggestion for a localization workflow portal—these are great suggestions, and we’ll share them with our product team. P.S. in regards to workflows, please be on the lookout for new releases regarding that exact product enhancement. (:

"Exceptional Support Experience with Lokalise Team"
What do you like best about Lokalise?

I recently had an issue with task creation and screen loading in Lokalise and reached out to their support team for help. From the start, the support experience was impressive.

Olga quickly identified the issues and escalated them to the support engineering team. Álvaro and Victor provided detailed assistance, helping me understand the root of the problems. They even offered insights into the technical aspects and worked with me until everything was resolved.

Even when the issue involved locked keys in a massive task created by another team, Álvaro went above and beyond, fetching details via API and guiding me through the process of closing the problematic task.

Despite some hiccups, like not being able to search for the task via the UI, the support team was proactive and communicative. They kept me updated, ensured I understood each step, and ultimately resolved all my issues.

Their patience and thoroughness turned a frustrating situation into a positive support experience. I highly recommend Lokalise for their top-notch support and dedication to solving user problems.

Overall, it was a great experience with the Lokalise support team. Thank you, Álvaro, Olga, and Victor! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

One challenge I encountered was the difficulty in searching for tasks via the UI, especially when dealing with a massive task that locked keys. This limitation made it harder to identify and resolve the issue quickly. However, the support team's diligence in fetching details through the API mitigated this inconvenience. "Lokalise: A deep dive into translation management and its performance."
What do you like best about Lokalise?

Lokalise has been an essential platform and tool in our company’s translation journey. The feature I appreciate most is the intuitive dashboard, which provides a clear layout of each captured project. The platform’s macro and micro search functionality is particularly valuable, allowing me to conduct high-level searches across multiple projects or focus on specific details within a single project.

I must commend Lokalise’s support bot and the support team. Every request I’ve submitted has been thoroughly investigated, with detailed responses that include screenshots, links to training materials or documents, and step-by-step solutions to resolve issues.

We’ve integrated our external communications platform, Slack, with Lokalise. While this has proven useful, it does require users to have a good understanding of the integration process to fully leverage its benefits.

The third-party linguists we collaborate with, who are also Lokalise users, have praised the “Glossary” and “Screenshot” features. The ability to share glossaries across projects has been especially valuable, saving time and ensuring consistency across our translations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

The vendor reporting functionality is significantly lacking, forcing us to rely on external methods to address this issue. Additionally, automatic task creation does not support the inclusion of a rate card, resulting in these tasks not appearing in any generated reports. Overall, reporting requires substantial improvement for this tool to truly reach its full potential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Brown of Lokalise

Thank you for your feedback on our reporting. We are actively working on improving our reporting features to better meet the needs of our users. Be on the look out for updates coming soon.

"Best software to date to start with localization"
What do you like best about Lokalise?

It's a very easy to learn/use tool. We currently implemented a Figma-to-Lokalise kind of workflow and once we set up the process right (this took a little bit of time haha), now things are running smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lokalise?

The Figma plugin feels like it's in a very early stages of development. It works great in best case scenarios but there are a lot of unhappy paths that are not considered yet. We'd love to provide a few feature requests to make our life easier :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
