As a solo attorney specializing in estate planning, elder care, and supplemental needs planning, I rely on a strong foundation to support my law practice and meet the diverse needs of my clients. Over the past decade, Clio Grow and Clio Manage have served as the operational backbone of my firm. These platforms enable my small, nimble team to provide highly personalized, client-focused service every day, all while maintaining efficiency, transparency, and a streamlined workflow.

Having shared our firm's journey in “The Centralized Firm: Powered by Clio” at the 2024 Clio Cloud Conference, I can confidently say that Clio lives up to its promise. It has become the cornerstone of a modern, well-organized, and trustworthy practice. The user-friendly interface, ongoing product enhancements, and the responsiveness of Clio’s support team make it indispensable for any small or mid-sized firm aiming for greater efficiency and client satisfaction. What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

While no system is flawless, Clio stands out as the closest to ideal among all the options our firm has used or explored. There are times when more advanced development and deeper integration of features would be beneficial. Some functionalities, though helpful, still need manual adjustments or third-party connectors to achieve their full effectiveness. Nevertheless, Clio’s steady stream of product updates demonstrates that the company genuinely listens to its users, drawing on feedback, data, and market research, while also showing strong leadership and engagement within the fast-changing legal services sector.

To make the most of Clio’s capabilities, it’s important to fully integrate it into your daily workflows and optimize your firm’s systems wherever possible. This process requires dedication and focus, but the investment pays off. You’ll gain the reassurance that comes with a centralized approach: the confidence of knowing your practice is organized and that every team member and client interaction remains coordinated from intake through to completion. What do you like best about Clio Manage?

Where do I even begin? From tracking time and expenses, communicating with clients, and obtaining electronic signatures, to processing payments with ease, customizing features, taking advantage of numerous integrations, and syncing calendars across the entire firm—Clio handles it all. The reporting tools and trust account management are also incredibly helpful. I honestly can't recall how we managed all these tasks before we started using Clio, but I do remember it was far from streamlined, took up a lot of time, and required juggling multiple platforms and programs. What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

There isn't much, but I would like to see a solution for sending multiple invoices to one billing contact (not client), like an adjuster who handles their own billing but wants all their claims invoices in one email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Clio Manage?

Clio has been a game-changer for our practice. Its ease of use is impressive since getting started was quick, and the interface is clean and intuitive. Whether you're managing cases, tracking time, or handling billing, everything is streamlined and accessible in one place.

One of Clio’s greatest strengths is how user-friendly it is across the board. The platform is clearly designed with legal professionals in mind. Features are logically organized, and the dashboard offers a clear overview of tasks, matters, billing, and communications, all in one place. It significantly cuts down on time spent toggling between tools.

Clio also offers diverse applicability. Whether you're managing a solo practice or coordinating a large legal team, the platform scales well. We've used it for case management, document signing, time tracking, client communications, and even billing, and each of these functions works seamlessly. The Clio Grow integration has been particularly helpful for client intake and CRM, giving us a more holistic toolset.

Clio’s mobile app is another game-changer. It allows access to case files, time tracking, and communication on the go—making it easy to stay productive, even outside the office.

Finally, the support team deserves praise. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful, whether through chat, email, or phone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

Once a payment is made on a payment request, you can’t edit or delete that payment in the event modifications are required in the invoice.

You can’t modify or archive a trust request once payment has been recorded on it. If a request was needed in full initially but later only a partial amount is needed (or vice versa), the system won’t let you adjust the request after payment.

What do you like best about Clio Manage?

I have been using Clio Manage on a daily basis for several years. Initially, my firm utilized only a small portion of its features—primarily for managing contacts. However, I took the initiative to explore the full range of Clio’s capabilities and helped my firm become more efficient and organized by incorporating Tasks, Custom Fields, and Templates into our workflow. Since then, we have also added Draft (Lawyaw), and we are well on our way to operating as a truly modern law firm. Integrating these tools into our daily routines has been seamless and very user-friendly. Whenever I encounter an issue or have questions about how to use a particular feature, customer service is always accessible, knowledgeable, and quick to resolve any concerns. Implementing this foundational program was by far the smoothest and most beneficial experience for our firm. It remains my favorite solution to date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

The reporting features could offer more customization, and I have noticed that loading larger matters with numerous documents can sometimes take additional time. Clio has truly simplified the way I manage my cases. Before using it, we didn't have any dedicated software, and now my work is much more efficient. The platform is very intuitive and easy to learn, which made the transition smooth. I rely on it for every stage of my cases, from client intake to monitoring expenses and keeping track of medical and billing records. I find the setup of Clio Manage incredibly straightforward, as all matters and contexts are consolidated in one place. This convenience ensures that whenever a call comes in, we immediately know all necessary details about a client's case without hassle. The platform also significantly benefits firm-wide operations because it keeps everyone informed and on the same page without needing to relay prior conversations. I'm particularly excited about the document automation feature, which promises to streamline the processing of 30 to 40 documents, making our workflow more efficient. I would say if I had to change one thing about Clio Manage, it would probably be the readability. Sometimes when we have been talking with somebody for years, things can get lost. I find it limiting that Clio Manage primarily caters to law firms. While it is a powerful tool, as someone working in a nonprofit, it would be beneficial if Clio Manage could tailor some features to suit other legal organizations that are not law firms. I appreciate Clio Manage's task setting features, which enhance our workflow by allowing tasks to be set for others, ensuring I am not the sole overseer. The drafting mechanism is excellent for managing tasks and monitoring case progress, especially with statutory limitations in mind. Additionally, the platform enhances efficiency by managing client interactions and logging conversations, assisting in providing context and continuity in communications. What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

I find the lack of capability to send and receive text messages through the client portal limiting. Many clients either do not have email capabilities or prefer communication via text. The absence of a text system in Clio Manage means I struggle to connect effectively with clients who cannot or prefer not to use email. What do you like best about Clio Manage?

I love how Clio Manage serves as a central hub where all team members can access the same information in real time. The efficient handling of calendaring and task management, especially as it integrates with other platforms like Legal Boards, is a strong benefit. Clio payments make collecting payments, such as annual recurring billing, easy and have significantly accelerated our billing processes. What do you dislike about Clio Manage?

I found the initial data migration from Time Matters to Clio Manage challenging. We had decades of data that needed to be imported, and it did not go as smoothly as anticipated. Clio Manage is primarily oriented towards hourly billing, which doesn't align with our flat fee structure. The reporting capabilities are not tailored to meet our needs, as they focus more on hourly billing. The current payment scheduling options in Clio Manage are limited. I would prefer having the option for annual recurring payments to better support our client annual care program, but it seems only weekly or monthly options are available.
