My client runs a small charity (dog rescue) and I redesigned her website in WordPress when she wanted to move away from Joomla. She needed a way for people to leave donations, so I did some research. All the plugins I found initially seemed expensive for a very small charity like my client's, until I found Donorbox, which has no monthly/yearly fee if you go for the basic option. Yes, there is a fee per donation, but I have found that most donors are happy to cover this amount. It was incredibly easy to set everything up and the end result looks super-slick on her website. I would like to share that I have used Donorbox for years and it has changed my life. I have used it for my small business very sucessfully. It is easy to use for customers/donors and links to PayPal as well which is very nice. I have always resolved issues with customer service easily. There are many features to make use of, many of which I didn't as I am a small business owner. But what I did make use of was great. If I could give something for Donorbox to improve on, it's continuity of communication with a single account. I've had times where I've received the same request from different customer service agents regarding an issue which had been addressed already. Other than that I think it's a great app/software! There are three things I love most about Donorbox. First is simplicity of sending out annual donor statements. It's SO EASY - a few clicks and updating the year on the email template and VOILA - they are done! That savings of time, ease of use, and efficiency of process are worth every penny to use this platform. Secondly, the willingness of Customer Support and Tech department in allowing us to import a CSV file for donations processed outside of DB is such a gift in itself. Transaction fees are a little higher than I would prefer and I think there are features that could be included, such as text-to-give and a few shortcakes, that could be given to clients and not added on at a higher cost. We actually use other platforms for those features for that reason - they are expensive with DB and I think DB could do itself a favor by making those more affordable or offered to clients. Donorbox was incredibly quick and easy to set up. Within minutes, I had everything running smoothly and ready to accept donations. The only downside I’ve encountered is that a few donors have had issues with their credit cards being flagged by their banks as potential fraud when trying to donate. While this isn’t common, it has caused some inconvenience for them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've used Donorbox for countless nonprofits and organizations and I can say that it's extremely customizable for any organization, easy to share for donations, and manage, as well as integrate across websites and social media account platforms. I've used this platform to create membership signups with customizable amounts, online donations for evergreen activities and events, and a strong physical online donation presence in Google searches.

I've used the platform almost every week or so for the past 5 years and can attest to how simple and easy it is to manage for the simplest of users as well as the most advanced.

It's not as easy for someone who isn't as tech savvy to setup the backend of Donorbox - while it is meant to be used for a variety of donation sources, it is quite a lift for someone not as used to online banking. For example, setting up the payment processor on the backend (to connect your bank account, Strip, Paypal, etc.) requires quite a bit of work on setup, connections, and testing. In my initial attempts to set up a donation page for my small non-profit's website, the experience of setting up the page was incredibly easy. I was guided through the entire process including a Stripe account, and had my "Donate" button up and running with barely any thought or technical skill required. If you're not a technical geek willing to invest hours of your own time into recreating the experience, and have a reasonably small donation volume, this is well worth the low-code effort to implement. We all know we have to pay fees for credit card donations, but Donorbox has a flat fee structure for many of its products that in some cases may exceed the value provided, particularly if you only want one small service (like a "donate" button/link). I'm all for compensating Donorbox for the service they provide, but charging a higher fee to me than I'm paying Stripe for the payment processing, just for giving me a donation form, seems excessive. I'd give a higher review if they had a more fine grained fee structure for simple integrations like this. What I dislike about Donorbox is that some features feel a little limited unless you're paying for the higher tiers. It works well overall, but I wish more tools were available without having to upgrade. Also, the backend isn’t always the most intuitive , it can take a few clicks to find what you're looking for. I appreciate how easy it is to start using Donorbox. I used it for the first time last month to sell tickets to a fundraising event, and I was able to set up the ticket information, create/edit the ticket landing page, and connect to our payment system in less than 20 minutes. This will now be our ticketing system for all events moving forward. I also appreciate that you can list the customer paying the processing fee as an option, not as a requirement one way or another. With other systems I have used, you either pushed the fee onto the customer or the organization paid it, there was no way to give customers an option to choose.
