"Illumin Account Managers Take The Product From Good To Great"
What do you like best about illumin?

The integration feature for meta where we can push RT audiences directly into platform is something we can only do with Illumin today. They also have dedicated account managers and sales teams that support campaign ideation, set up and delivery as if they were always a part of your team to begin with. Honestly the best part of working with Illumin has been the team of Chris Carmody & Stefen Shields. I worked with them on a different campaign with a different agency and when I got the opportunity to launch something new with Illumin and Digital Ignite they immediately reached out, reconnected and supported me in the same way I had come to expect and value from my previous experience. Regardless of features or performance I'll always give those two a chance to win our business because of the level of support they provide throughout planning and execution of campaigns as well as the ongoing optimizations, customizations and extra value they provide. What do you dislike about illumin?

The audiences & performance in general for ROAS/Revenue based campaigns is behind other programmatic channels at times. Great results from cross-channel activities for CPM control and volume of impressions, but the optimization toward a tangible business outcome like a purchase doesn't convert as well as other tactics. What do you like best about illumin?

Illumin stands out with its journey-based canvas — it's not just another DSP with levers and sliders. The visual planning tool gives a clear, strategic view of how consumers move through the funnel. It allows me to map each stage, tie specific creatives to each, and control audience movement based on behaviors like views, clicks, or conversions. It's great for storytelling with media, especially across CTV, display, and video. What do you dislike about illumin?

The initial learning curve can be steep — especially when it comes to understanding "audience out" logic, frequency cap management, and the canvas structure. If you're used to traditional DSPs, it takes a few campaigns to fully trust the flow and logic. Also, pixel tracking on dynamic or SPA websites can require extra care. What do you like best about illumin?

The Illumin platform adapts very well to the client's needs, standing out because it is intuitive and drives action. What do you dislike about illumin?

Although Illumin stands out for its adaptability and graphical presentation of strategies, a possible area for improvement would be the implementation of a daily budget. Currently, the platform only works by total investment and not by impressions, which can limit users' flexibility when managing their daily campaigns. Incorporating the option of a daily budget or daily impression would allow clients to have greater control over their daily expenses, thus optimizing investment and maximizing the reach of their strategies. What do you like best about illumin?

The experience with the platform was quite intuitive. After a brief explanation from the specialists, it becomes easy to work independently and manage tasks on your own. Features like bulk creative uploads significantly simplify implementation and help optimize time. Additionally, the platform allows for a clearer flow between campaign, ad group, audience, and creative. This structure makes it easier to develop connected strategies while maintaining a personalized and more engaging message logic. Another interesting and effective aspect is the campaign setup process, which can be done by simply dragging content or with just a few clicks. What do you dislike about illumin?

Viewing an overview of each campaign is not very intuitive. The interface requires multiple steps to access and fully understand the displayed information, making the analysis process more complex and time-consuming than expected. Additionally, while the platform helps save time during implementation, that efficiency is lost when trying to quickly report specific campaign data for particular time periods or specific accounts, as retrieving and filtering this information is not as straightforward as it should be. What do you like best about illumin?

I think that the idea of being able to move throughout the funnel is really cool, I have yet to actually utilize that feature because we havent sold much that way but its something that really sets you guys apart. What do you dislike about illumin?

sometimes I think the domains are a little weird but I give you the benefit of the doubt just because most domains on other dsps also look a little strange. I do wish you could have settings save, like for example, save a group of geos so I don't have to type it in on the next campaign. What do you like best about illumin?

The fact that you can join several stages of the funnel in one big campaign to take advantage of the algorithm each using its own budget and creatives, also the fact that you can use creative pixels to capture the audience and remarket them even without a pixel on the website.

Also the way is created it lends for a short learning curve and has a dashboard at hand letting you create the canvas with the elements at hand making implementation shorter and easier.

Quite recommend the platform since I use it everyday, the fact that it has a dashboard regarding budget consumption and kpi goals lets you have a quick survey of your campaign and how are they faring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about illumin?

One of my biggest downsides using Illumin is that within the same stage you can have several paths/campaigns with different budgets but if one is underperforming the platform won't automatically allocate the budget. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about illumin?

The customer journey flow to programmatic is very unique to the industry. In my client industry, we focus on the donors. So everything we build is around the donor. And Illumin allows us to build a journey within Programmatic, email & social paid media execution to introduce our client's missions to potential new donors, bring them through to engagement, and lastly, to conversion and the donation ask all within a single integrated campaign build. The setup is mostly intuitive (with some nuances). But because the actual campaign build is all drag & drop, that is fairly simple and intuitive. The team has been great to work with. We opted to take advantage of the managed-to-self-executed path. It was great as they hand-held us through our first campaign build and also there every step of the way for our second (even though we are doing the steps, they're making sure we're doing them correctly & walking us through how to fix any errors). I love this because I am a learn-by-doing kind of person. We ran one 2-month test campaign for proof of concept and are currently building out a second, much larger campaign. Even though we had issues with our first execution (no fault of Illumin - a third-party partner of ours failed to implement pixels), we see strong potential with this product for other clients. What do you dislike about illumin?

There are some wonky technical nuances that I feel could be improved upon. Their pixel builder is not intuitive, making you bounce between parts of the widget. It would make a lot more sense to keep it all on one screen. I'm still working through reporting, but it feels a little more fractured than I'd like considering the great integration of the programmatic build itself. I know that DOOH is not yet part of the journey flows (but it can run alongside them). I would love for DOOH and geo-fencing to get more closely integrated, especially with one another. They are proactive as well as responsive – which is a great blend of strengths. What do you like best about illumin?

As someone relatively new to digital advertising, I’ve found Illumin to be a game-changer for my campaigns. The platform is incredibly user-friendly, even for those who might not have extensive experience in digital marketing. Their journey-based advertising approach allows me to visualize the customer’s path, ensuring that my campaigns are both strategic and effective.

One of the standout features is the audience creation tool. It’s intuitive and provides detailed targeting options, which makes it easy to reach the right people with the right message. The keywords and journey settings are also robust, giving me the flexibility to experiment and optimize campaigns in real time.

The level of support they provide is another major plus. Even though I missed some training sessions with their team, I’ve been able to get up to speed quickly thanks to the platform's clear instructions and helpful resources.
