What do you like best about BambooHR?

What truly distinguishes BambooHR is its outstanding user-friendliness, which benefits everyone in the company—not just the HR department. The platform’s clean and intuitive interface makes handling HR tasks feel almost effortless.

One of the features I appreciate most is Employee Self-Service. It allows our staff to manage their own information, request time off, and access company documents independently, without having to contact HR for every minor update. This autonomy has saved us a considerable amount of administrative time.

The centralized employee database is another major advantage. With all employee data—such as contact details, job history, performance reviews, and PTO balances—stored in one place, we no longer have to juggle multiple spreadsheets. This consolidation has greatly improved our data consistency and accuracy.

Time-off management is also remarkably straightforward. Employees can quickly check their PTO balances and submit time-off requests, while managers can approve them with just one click. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

While BambooHR excels at handling essential HR tasks, there are a few aspects where it could be improved. The reporting and analytics features work well for basic requirements, but I would appreciate more advanced customization options and deeper analytics capabilities. For more complex data queries, we often need to export information and process it outside the platform. The performance management module is adequate for straightforward reviews and goal setting, but it lacks some of the advanced features found in specialized performance management tools. Additionally, although the platform’s simplicity is one of its strengths, it can also be restrictive. There is limited flexibility to tailor workflows or data fields beyond the standard settings, which could pose challenges for organizations with highly specific HR needs. What do you like best about BambooHR?

I love how BambooHR turns chaotic HR workflows into a smooth, intuitive experience. The platform is easy to use and becomes part of your daily routine, whether it’s approvals, onboarding, or reporting. Setting it up took some effort, but once implemented, everything clicked, and the integrations with Teams, Slack, Jira, and Salesforce make cross-team collaboration effortless. The customer support is responsive and helpful, the features are robust without being overwhelming, and the frequency with which we rely on it shows how central it has become to our HR processes, it genuinely saves time and reduces errors while giving our team full visibility and control. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

The main challenge is the initial implementation, especially when aligning complex HR processes or customizing certain workflows. While the integrations are strong, some advanced connections require extra setup. A few features could benefit from deeper customization options, and there’s a small learning curve for new users. What do you like best about BambooHR?

BambooHR saves me so much time in my day. I used to take 3 hours to onboard someone with them sitting at my desk filling out new hire paperwork. Now, they do it on BambooHR before they come, and they are in and out of my office in less than 30 minutes normally. It also helps me with processing applications, and corresponding with applicants. It helps me get signatures from employees, and even track who hasn't done it and who has. I would recommend BambooHR every time, and have several times already to collogues. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

Of course like any software, application, or website there are always things you would fix. I love how BambooHR does have a Google doc you can fill out though and make recommendations. The only down side, is you never hear if they were received.

I think if there was one thing I would fix right now, it would be to have a little more flexibility in the signature set up for documents. If I do not set a document to come to me last for a signature, I have to go manually hunt down if it was completed or not, because I do not always get notification. It will just go straight into the employees folder, and that is it. Also, I think that a signature should be able to be set to go to the administrator, or specific job title not just a specific name of a person. The reason is, that if I am out of the office, and as the HR Manager, the document is set to come to me for processing, it just sits there and no one else can be given the approval to sign the document. Another way would be that the main person, like me, could set an out of the office setting that would forward any requests or signatures required for me, to a specific assigned person in my absence. ( I am not talking about individual employees assigning someone to sign for them, just upper level management.)

Let me give you an example. I was out for a month having surgery, however without going in and changing every single signature template I could not redirect approvals, and signatures to the person filling in for me. This means I had to log in from home while trying to recover to sign items that could very easily have been approved by my designee.

What do you like best about BambooHR?

When we first signed on with BambooHR a few years ago, the implementation process was very thorough, leaving me ready to hit the ground running within the app! I love the ease of use with BambooHR, but specifically the ability for my employees to enter their vacation and sick time requests and have them sent directly to their supervisor for approval. Before BambooHR, we manually calculated all time off, which was quite tedious. BambooHR has made this process seamless. Even the employees have commented on how much they appreciate it! One of my other favorite features is the job posting section. BambooHR allows you to create job postings, which are automatically posted to a few popular job boards. This saves so much time...and money!

Customer support has always been very helpful when issues arise, and this is very much appreciated! Even if customer support is not available, there are so many useful articles or FAQ's that can potentially resolve the issue. The FAQ's are especially helpful since BambooHR is constantly upgrading and adding new features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about BambooHR?

I wish BambooHR had the capability to turn off notifications for training. Each year, when certain training courses expire, employees receive emails stating that new training is available. However, this has become confusing, as it leads them to believe they need to complete a new training when, in fact, no new training has been set up yet. It's a minor issue, but it happens every year. What do you like best about BambooHR?

I’ve been using BambooHR for over 10 years across both global organizations and U.S.-based companies, and it continues to be one of the best HR platforms out there. The system is very flexible, easy to configure, and has grown alongside the needs of different teams I’ve supported.

From an administrator’s perspective, it’s straightforward to manage and adapt. Employees also find it intuitive and user-friendly, which makes adoption and ongoing engagement simple. The service team is responsive and supportive, consistently delivering a great customer experience.

What do you like best about BambooHR?

As an HR manager, I wear a lot of hats, and BambooHR really helps me stay on top of everything. It’s easy to navigate, even for people who aren’t super tech-savvy, which means fewer questions coming my way for simple things like PTO balances or updating personal info. I also love how smooth the onboarding process is—new hires get set up quickly, and it makes a good first impression. It’s taken a lot of the manual work off my plate, and that’s made a big difference. I use it all day, every day. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

here are a few areas where BambooHR could improve. First, the reporting tools can be a bit frustrating when I want to dig deeper or build custom reports. They cover the basics, but more flexibility would go a long way. Second, there’s no built-in way to track mileage or employee expenses, so I have to manage reimbursements outside the system, which adds extra steps.

Also, I wish there had been more transparency around the payroll add-on. I was surprised to find out that something as routine as having a state tax notice reviewed came with an additional charge. What do you like best about BambooHR?

We have been a client since 2019 with the HR portal and recently upgraded to Pro and added the payroll & time tracking modules! What a difference! The time saved and simplicity is awesome! A real pleasure processing after switching from a global provider!

I couldn't be happier with the implementation part as well. My P.O.C. Wendy was a blessing and ensured we were compliant with particular state laws/regulations regarding Section 125! She actually caught an error from our previous provider, which shall remain nameless! As professionals, they should have questioned it just like BambooHR!

I'm in Bamboo every day as this is our daily portal for all EEs. I leave it up all day basically! A real pleasure working with them and customer support! Had just a few minor questions since implementing and Live Chat is the way to go! An immediate response!

BambooHR has a super clean interface that's easy to navigate, even for first-time users. I really appreciate how quickly I can find what I need, whether it's time-off requests, org charts, or employee records. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

1. Lack of ability to further organize files in the general files section (specifically subfolders are not available, which leads to cluttered/unorganized files)

2. Point in time reports only show certain information, would be great if we could report specifically on things like total headcount at a certain point in time,

3.Would be great to be able to add more than 10 goals so there is more room for us to match the performance review goals section with our strategic plan (for consistency sake)

What do you like best about BambooHR?

We went from Excel spreadsheets to BambooHR and it's been great. We can pull the data out in Excel format if we still want to look at it that way. Onboarding is a breeze with the new hires completing their forms online. Communicating with applicants via the messaging included helps keep everything in one place. Information is easy to find, easy to update, and easier to share across the HR team instead of having a set of paper files to sort through. BambooHR keeps adding modules to help make our (HR) life easier - payroll, timekeeping, benefits. What do you dislike about BambooHR?

It would be great if there was the ability to reassign tasks after they've been assigned. For example, if a supervisor is changed part way through the onboarding process, we have to manually remind the new supervisor of their tasks since there isn't a way to reassign.
