You can use= =20 lspci to find which pci id your card has (try both "lspci" and "lspci -n") and then add it to list of PCI ids km supports. As for PAL-M I am not sure whether this works (or ever worked properly). If the mode is there is means that ATI provided the numbers needed for the= =20 mode to work. However, the numbers required much tweaking to get SECAM to= =20 work properly, so I would not be surprised if the same is required of=20 PAL-M. best Vladimir Dergachev > > Nei > > -----Mensagem original----- > De: gat...@li... > [mailto:gat...@li...] Em nome de Bill > Mullen > Enviada em: segunda-feira, 26 de junho de 2006 14:55 > Para: gat...@li... > Assunto: Re: [GATOS] ATI All in Wonder 9600 > > On Sun, 25 Jun 2006 23:44:15 -0700, persall88 wrote: > >> Making progress, but not solved yet. >> I got past the opcode failed request errors below, >> by installing newer programs from gatos: >> ATI-6.7.0-exp1.i386.tar.gz >> km_0.6.1.tgz >> avview-0.80.7.tar.gz >> Now, when I start_avview, at least it starts, but it doesn't recognize >> any km device for video input. Hi all I have same problem here with video in an AIW9600, km doest generate the video device in dev directory. In NTSC mode I get a so bad signal B&W, are there some extra parameters to put inside xorg. Gatos avview is ready for PAL-M ? Nei=20 -----Mensagem original----- De: gat...@li... Have you tried XawTV as an alternative to avview? I don't run Debian, but I'd be shocked if it wasn't available in .deb form. I've had good luck with it with several Radeon cards; admittedly, all were older ones which were already well supported by the GATOS drivers (and I wasn't trying to record, just to view, so km wasn't a factor). I've run into a couple of situations where XawTV worked quite well while avview didn't, so it seems as if it'd at least be worth giving it a shot in this case. --=20 Bill Mullen RLU #270075 Using Tomcat but need to do more? Can anybody tell me, does the gatos stuff (Avview, km, etc) work with this card -- ATI All In Wonder Radeon 9600? Are there any patches or anything that I can use to get Gatos to work with this card? Thanks. -- per...@sb... |

Hi, Antti, I haven't heard from you for awhile! Everything worked fine on my 7500 until one day the Tuner stopped working, and it would only receive or capture from Composite. I tried to get another 7500, but they are hard to find. The 9600 seemed like a good buy -- 256 mb and all. I am trying to capture, but there is no picture at all even for watching. It seems like I almost have it working, if I could just get that last part to work. Thanks. If you hear about any solutions for this, please let me know. per...@sb... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Antti Ajanki" <aa...@cc...> To: "persall88" <per...@sb...> Cc: <gat...@li...> Sent: Monday, June 26, 2006 9:52 AM Subject: Re: [GATOS] ATI All in Wonder 9600 > Hi persall, > > First of all, I don't know whether or not AIW 9600 is supposed to work. > I'm still using good old 7500. > > On Sun, 25 Jun 2006, persall88 wrote: > > > > Making progress, but not solved yet. > > I got past the opcode failed request errors below, > > by installing newer programs from gatos: > > ATI-6.7.0-exp1.i386.tar.gz > > If you feel adventurous you could update to Debian unstable, which has > Xorg 7.0 and includes the Gatos drivers, so you don't have to install any > drivers yourself. > > > In the Avview Control Window, there is no km device listed under card for V4l, > > just "none" and "automatic". > > Are you trying to capture TV or just to watch it? Hi persall, First of all, I don't know whether or not AIW 9600 is supposed to work. I'm still using good old 7500. Currently avview requires ffmpeg 0.4.8 (but because avview links to it statically it doesn't matter if you have newer ffmpeg installed in your system). I once tried to port avview to use 0.4.9, but it required some nontrivial changes and crashed every time I started recording. -- Antti Ajanki |

Making progress, but not solved yet. I got past the opcode failed request errors below, by installing newer programs from gatos: ATI-6.7.0-exp1.i386.tar.gz km_0.6.1.tgz avview-0.80.7.tar.gz Now, when I start_avview, at least it starts, but it doesn't recognize any km device for video input. When I run start_avview, the console feedback is the following: NUM_ADAPTORS=1 Adaptor 0: ATI Radeon Video Adapter type input video image ports 61 61 ATI Radeon Video Adapter master=.controlwin row=1 column=0 Looking for km device that corresponds to PCI:01:00.0 km_devs= master=.controlwin row=1 column=0 In the Avview Control Window, there is no km device listed under card for V4l, just "none" and "automatic". As I mentioned, I'm running Debian 3.1 Sarge, with kernel 2.6.8, which uses X 4.3. Also: Should I use newer ffmpeg? I still use ffmpeg-0.4.8 which gatos recommends for avview, but Debian has a newer ffmpeg which is ffmpeg-0.4.9-pre1. Any help would be sincerely appreciated, thanks. - per...@sb... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I for one don't have it working. I'm running: Debian 3.1 Sarge with 2.6.8 kernel, and the following versions of gatos software: ATI-4.3.0, avview-0.80.6, km-0.6.0, ffmpeg-0.4.8. Those versions I previously had running on a ATI AIW Radeon 7500 and it worked. Now however I have switched to a newer card, the ATI All in Wonder 9600, 256 mb "2006 edition". I installed the ATI-4.3.0 package, and rebooted, and X didn't work. It seems that version of radeon driver didn't support the 9600. So I copied the radeon drivers I had backed up, back to /usr/X11R6: X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/r128_drv.o X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ati_drv.o X11R6/lib/modules/dri/r200_dri.so X11R6/lib/modules/dri/radeon_dri.so Now X works, but when I Start_Avview, I get the following: Adaptor 0: ATI Radeon Video Overlay type input image ports 61 61 ATI Radeon Video Overlay X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 141 (XVideo) Minor opcode of failed request: 14 () Serial number of failed request: 1324 Current serial number in output stream: 1324 Is there something I can do, config-wise, to get this to work, at this point? - per...@sb... Does anyone have this card working -- ATI All In Wonder 9600? I see the gatos website lists the AIW Radeon 8500DV (Radeon200) and the AIW Radeon 9700 (Radeon300), so does that mean the 9600 would fit in there somewhere, and does anybody have it working? per...@sb... |

Hi, I recently noticed that there is some new work done on tv-out-support for=20 radeon-cards: http://megahurts.dk/rune/tv_output.html The latest patches don't apply to the (just released) xf86-video-ati-6.6.1.= Is=20 the author of this page reading this? (I'll have a look into the patch later today and see if the changes are=20 trivial) Then there's written that it's based on Frederico Ullivi's GPLed work. Is h= e=20 on this list? Has he been asked to relicense his code? cu, =2D-=20 Hanno B=C3=B6ck Blog: http://www.hboeck.de/ GPG: 3DBD3B20 Jabber: ja...@hb... |

Hello, I'm curious to see if anyone has been able to get Tv-out working properly on an IGP 320M. This is an older laptop Radeon chipset. In earlier versoins of XFree86, it used to work with the atitvout command. Later on, that broke, but the VESA driver combined with atitvout could still get a picture on the tv. In both of these cases, only the LCD or the TV could be active at one time. In Windows, clone mode works (obviously). I installed the latest patches (from here: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127642) for X.org's 6.6.0 ati driver and was able to load the module, and get *something* on the screen when I switched to 800x600 -- just garbage, though. Looked like some sort of sync problem. I tried the advice on Rune's page to no avail. Does anyone have any more advice? Thanks. |

Although x.org 6.9 has the same source code than 7.0, xorg-server, xproto,= =20 etc, are packages of x.org 7.0+. I think that to install ati-video-driver y= ou=20 need to have x.org 7.0. Alberto |

Does anyone know if the ati radeon driver will support dual heads with each head being separate displays and if so what does xorg.conf look like? This was supported (at least it worked good enough for my use) prior to the ATI merge/changes. I can get it to work in both clone and Xinerama, but not as 2 separate displays. I don't expect to be able to drag windows across the two screens. thanks, -pete |

ON my side, I use xvattr and put the relevant command in the autostart file of my window manager. E.g.: $ cat GNUstep/Library/WindowMaker/autostart #!/bin/sh xvattr -a XV_SWITCHCRT -v 1 IN your case, you'll need to use attibutes such as XV_BRIGHTNESS. See xvattr man page for details. HTH |

Every time I run Avview, I have to set some of the parameters such as contrast, brightness, red intensity etc etc. How can I fix it so that these changes are in effect automatically, the next time Avview is run.
