If it is r128, then my packages could help, if it is radeon, then newer upstream packages can help. See also /var/log/Xorg.0.log, which may contain useful information on hardware detection. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sb...@su... Hi. Here I am again with this. Now that gatos has been merged into x.org, I'd like to get tvout for my=20 igp9100. Some time ago, Hanno B=F6ck told that it was actually on work and = it=20 would be available in the version 6.8 of the ati driver. Well, it is taking= =20 some time, so I might try to compile from git... it I knew how. I've search= ed=20 a bit and I have found no instructions or no tutorial for these. Could=20 anybody teach me a short way to do this? I'll have time to test it in 2=20 weeks. If it works, I'll let you know. thanks Alberto |

Thanks, Stan. I updated the driver package with the one specified below from your previous message: > Here is my package I used in 10.2. Then I tried to run AVview again; however, I got the same error as before. The only thing that was different was the serial number. I get this error as soon as I click OK below the prompt "It appears that you have not run AVview before...". /usr/local/bin:~> start_avview libzvbi available export modules: HTML:keyword "html" mimetype "text/html" extension "html, htm" PPM:keyword "ppm" mimetype "image/x-portable-pixmap" extension "ppm" Text:keyword "text" mimetype "text/plain" extension "txt" VTX:keyword "vtx" mimetype "application/videotext" extension "vtx" Initializing LIRC. avview: could not connect to socket avview: Connection refused Failed to initialize LIRC, remote control support disabled. No. Only OpenSUSE and only Factory (i. e. nor 10.2 nor 10.3) includes this patch. Actually, it is sufficient to update r128_drv.so and modules/multimedia directory. Here is my package I used in 10.2. It is a bit outdated, but it worked for me. http://www.penguin.cz/~utx/ftp/suse/10.2/suse/i586/xorg-x11-driver-video-7.2-33.1.i586.rpm (For x86_64, you have to recompile from my source in src directory, for 10.3 there is a package as well.) > I just compiled and installed AVview again without installing any extra > GATOS drivers. Thanks Stan for your speedy reply. I checked my system's RPM database, and found that the xorg-x11-driver-video package is already installed. Is this package supposed to work with Mach 64 adapters? I just compiled and installed AVview again without installing any extra GATOS drivers. When I started it, I got the following: linux:/usr/local/bin # start_avview libzvbi available export modules: HTML:keyword "html" mimetype "text/html" extension "html, htm" PPM:keyword "ppm" mimetype "image/x-portable-pixmap" extension "ppm" Text:keyword "text" mimetype "text/plain" extension "txt" VTX:keyword "vtx" mimetype "application/videotext" extension "vtx" Initializing LIRC. avview: could not connect to socket avview: Connection refused Failed to initialize LIRC, remote control support disabled. Greetings GATOS developers, I have an old ATI AIW Rage Pro (8 MB) installed in my system; I was told some time ago that it is a type of Mach 64 display adapter. I managed to get TV working years ago when I was running a version of Mandrake that was equipped with XFree86. I am now running openSUSE 10.2, which is equipped with X.org 7.2, and a 2.6 kernel. However, the only version of X.org GATOS driver package that I could find in your general download area was ati.6.7.0. I did not try CVS, because I am only a user, not a developer. When I unpacked this tar archive and opened its README file, I found the following message: ** Problems/bugs ATI Mach64 support has not made it into ati.4.4.0 (yet). This binary release does not support TV-out. If you have any other problems, bug reports or questions, please contact gat...@li.... This tar archive has a timestamp of September 21, 2004. Has anyone been working on this project since this date? Is this driver now available (It is now 2008.)? I could not find evidence that it has been merged into the X.org 7.2 tree. If someone could enlighten me as to the status of this driver's development, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks in advance! ;) Karl |
