"xMatters guides our incident teams"
What do you like best about xMatters?

It is wonderful how xMatters manages incident ownership and escalation workflows. We have had cases in the past where alerts were acknowledged but no further action was taken, this improved with the system automatically going through the next person if there is no progress on the alert by the owner. The mobile application also qualifies as a mentioning with regards to its reliable notifications, bypassing through the noise, and enabling the on call team to see urgent alerts even when they are not in front of their computers. I like also very much how simple it is to create complicated communication plans by using the drag and drop interface and not involving a developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

The initial stages set forth to fine tune the event flood control was a little more difficult than expected. We had to spend additional time reading to discover how to set it up just right so as to prevent the over-alerting and/or inadvertent suppression. Functional though, the reporting could be improved with a greater customization of how they see team response time across our services. It is a common practice to export data to obtain the particular figures we require during ours retrospectives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Operational fire drills into predictable processes"
What do you like best about xMatters?

I like the fact that xMatters has integrated our communication channels that are very critical. It has also removed the panic of scramble in various applications as an event hits, and everyone who needs to receive the message is immediately reached. Manual follow-up has saved us many hours of time due to the ability to automatically escalate notifications according to their severity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

The first custom notification workflow configuration was somewhat close to learning a new language. It would be ideal to have more ready-made templates of particular technical alerts. At times even the number of possible configuration choices can prove to be somewhat overwhelming to the new team members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"xMatters cuts through the incident noise, pinpointing exact responders for swift action"
What do you like best about xMatters?

xMatters is very strong at filtering alerts based on utterly specific operational context, such that only the most relevant teams are pinged. As an example, a building C boiler alarm sends an alert only to the mechanical crew that services that particular building rather than the entire facilities department. The fact that audit trail is robust on each single alert is also a nice feature, it leaves an undeniable and clear trail of who got the notification, when he/she read it and accepted the notification is crucial to our compliance requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

It can be quite slow in executing the search feature of the historical alert log when attempting to speedily identify past occurrences. In addition, the need to make ad hoc adjustments to smaller, specialized on call groups can be more cumbersome than it has to be, with multiple clicks being used to make changes. Finally, building out new, complex alert workflows does still require a sizable amount of backend knowledge not available in the visual builder, so certain staff members cannot fully self-service more complex requests. "The outage was alarming, but xMatters made it easier by managing on-call communications"
What do you like best about xMatters?

I am fond of xMatters and the reason is its great automation of the incidents, and smart scheduling of oncalls. It automatically forwards crucial alerts to the concerned individual or group in real-time, therefore, saving invaluable time in the case of an outage. One example is that xMatters can notifyabel the right on call engineer in the event that a server or other service is failing and escalation occurs in case of no response. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

At times the user interface of xMatters may seem slightly complicated at first. It can take a fair amount of learning in order to create pretty specific or complex workflows. It may appear to be slightly costly to small organizations or teams as well. There can also be more flexibility in custom reporting with regard to our specific needs. These are but small matters though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our on-call rotations are less of a headache"
What do you like best about xMatters?

I am very fond of the fact that xMatters does this automation of our on-calling and incident alerting. It indeed makes sure that the operating team member is signaled whenever a critical issue arises at every given time. The dynamic alerting is a massive success that gives us an opportunity to deliver the targeted messages in a prompt time. It also has strong escalation policies that ensure that consequential alerts can no longer slip through. Complex schedules set up is also easy to us. This has made our general incident response to be much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

The very first configuration of xMatters may be not quite simple. Indeed, it takes a serious effort of configuration of all more integrations. The user interface in some cases does not feel recent relative to the newer platforms. It can be a little clunky to locate certain settings among the depths of the menus as well. Onboarding would be improved with a simpler format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good for incident response"
What do you like best about xMatters?

I really like how xMatters ensures critical alerts actually reach the right on-call person, following our schedules and escalation policies automatically. The integration capabilities are solid, pulling signals from our monitoring tools and pushing updates to our ticketing systems like ServiceNow. Building custom communication flows for different incident types with the workflow builder is also super helpful for automating steps. It takes the guesswork out of who needs to know about what when something breaks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

Setting it up can be a bit of a learning curve sometimes, especially configuring complex schedules and workflows initially. And honestly, like most enterprise tools, the pricing model feels a bit steep depending on your scale. The user interface, while functional, isn't always the most modern or intuitive compared to some newer tools out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"We rely on it to stay organized during outages"
What do you like best about xMatters?

What I like most about xMatters is how clearly it shows each person’s role in critical situations. It used to be unclear who was supposed to take the lead or step in. Now, how it manages and increases tasks makes it simple to continue without facing delays. It’s great that I can communicate with my team members instantly without having to move to another channel. Because of this, we can react quickly and pay close attention during emergencies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

Building trust in the xMatters notification process takes me a lot more time than I’d like. The reason is that it takes some time to adjust the alerts, and those early errors made some people hesitant to depend on them. There were some issues with the newer team members, who believed some people were not included in the process, which made things more difficult at the beginning. What do you dislike about xMatters?

It does not seem intuitive and stablishing a workflow for me need requires a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient and Reliable Incident Management Solution"
What do you like best about xMatters?

We can easily create workflows using the drag & drop feature and set up automations. In case of service issues, custom notification can be sent to the desired team or user. For reporting, it supports major channels like SMS, Slack, email, and app notifications. It eliminates the need for human or manual intervention and automates the process of reporting the incidents, thus speeding up the process. The integration process was quite extensive but overall it was worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about xMatters?

Too many notifications can create confusion and slow down our work process, which requires us to attend to the issue and solve it within the timeframe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
