To all TUTOS users & developers, TUTOS is simply the most advanced GPL groupware/intranet/project manager available now. With such a project, we are all receiving a lot more than we are contributing. As for most rules, there are exceptions. Our exception is Gero Kohnert. An exceptional developer leading an exceptional project, Gero has almost single handedly kept TUTOS amongst the most active projects on Sourceforge. During the last three months, Gero has contributed 85% of the commits. Gero Kohnert (632), Markus Leist (73), Dimitri Fontaine (20), Sergiusz Pawlowicz (8), Jeroen Baten (7), Serget Korotkov (7) for a total of 747 commits to CVS. TUTOS is already best of class and still more work is underway on version 1.1. Let's make TUTOS an even greater success story of open source software. I know at this point you are thinking: "What a great project. I want to contribute! What can you do?" Fear not, the answer is near. 1- Spread the love. Go to hotscripts.com and vote "Excellent". http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/6868.html You can also submit a short review. 2- Install the cvs and Hunt some bugs for 1.1 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=8047&atid=108047 Please choose "CVS pre release" You may also play test the 1.1 cvs demo version: http://www.tutos.org/devel/ 3- Get a hot drink, write some code and contribute here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=308047&group_id=8047 4- Create a new template with some cool icons. Any artist types out there? 5- Part with some hard (or easily) earned dough via PayPal. Please find the "Donate" button on the bottom of the left menu. If you don't have enough time or the expertise to contribute code, chances are you can contribute financially to the project. If you are using Tutos for a successful business, please consider all the staff time & money you are saving with such a great tool. Maybe if all the users/organizations contributed a small portion of what they are making/saving, we could convince Gero to quit his day job and focus full-time on Tutos!! I'm sure we've all got a few ideas to keep Gero busy for a loooong time! Best wishes for the holidays, Marc Laporte |

Hi all, while browsing the PHP site I came across a way in the HTML standard called Access Keys, that will allow you to use keystrokes to access links or bring up a search box etc. It pointed to the following: http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#access-keys What do people think of this one? I believe that this could be good functionality to have. I'm not asking for someone else to do this, but could someone point out where the menu entries are created I could look into it. Thanks, Hugh |

I am currently extremely occupied with the LPI 2 book and I spent all waking hours a day writing. Offcourse you can count on me to at least do the 1.1 documents and I will try to make the document merging working using fop and xsl-fo. Dear Gero, I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Tutos IS successful and is simply the best in its class! I was unaware of (and I am very happy to discover) the CVS demo. I am subscribed to all lists but must have missed the announcement. This is a great idea!! By seeing the feature in Beta, we will be encouraged to contribute/patch code!! I see some very interesting features which deserve to be brought in the next official release: -Document merging -Checklist -New layout (disabled in Demo) -Make working copy -Appointment (check participants availability) -Description field of Role-person in project -Mail to team (for projects) -History of last visited objects -Palm work in CVS (I can't find in demo) I commend the trend to move many features to modules. To do some serious testing, my team & I will install the CVS on our server. How often is the demo site updated from the CVS? Thanks!!!!! If it is ready :-) I will release the new 1.1 stuff if I'm sure that there are no major problems. This will require a intensive testing by a lot of users. Everybody is invited to checkout the latest CVS release and test it. For those who are not willing to try it on their own system a online demo is available here: http://www.tutos.org/devel/php As soon as I'm happy with the codebase I will make a beta release and some time later a official one. The reason for this more restrictive testing is simple: I'm currenlty the only one who is making support and bugfixing in TUTOS, and I does not have enough time and not willing to support a unfinsihed/untested software. Does this sound a little bit frustrated ? Yes ! I'm a bit disappointed with the userbase of TUTOS. Everybody is crying for help support features but nobody besides me is willing to help or support. Hi! When should we expect a release including the new layout engine? -- http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/tutos/tutos/php/layout/la yout_base.pinc "Started new layout engine mechanism for page creation: Pages that are displayed to the end user are now objects that extends a preloaded layout object. The type of the layout object is configurable and may change. So it will be possible to have classical layout (layout/classic_layout.pinc) or other layouts that for example may have the navigation somewhere else. Work will continue !" -- Thanks!! When I go to Products, then go to Statistics, I see the following graphs. State Finished Ongoing Acquisition Classification 1 Software Classification 2 North Region Manager M. kikutani G. Kohnert L. Torvalds Now I change the language to Japanese, I can see only managers' name correctly. Other graph titles, such as Finished, Ongoing, etc.. look as strange characters. I tried Chinese. This time, Software and North Region look good. But Finished, Ongoing, and Acquisition look still strange. Why are these affected by the language setting ? makoto -- Kikutani, Makoto |

Hi, Recently I'm playing with phpGroupware, which is arguably a rival of TUTOS. I still prefer TUTOS because it best fits for engineering. But I found phpGroupware has a few good points which TUTOS is lacking. For example, phpGroupware can change date-time format by user-setting. In Japan, year/month/date is common. I know TUTOS can change date format in many places according to language setting. But in some place, the date format seems fixed, such as in advanced search. I'd like to change these by user-setting. More serious problem for localization is the order of given-name and surname. Surname comes first in Japan. Obviously this order is fixed in the code and thus I cannot change. I'd really appreciate if I can change this order by user-setting. Actually even phpGroupware cannot change this name order. Therefore, some Japanese people wrote a patch. makoto -- Kikutani, Makoto |

It is not so good for all the things Tutos does, like bugreports, teams, etc. Also the TUTOS user rights are more elaborate.
